Defending champs Chou and Wang stay on track

Players from various nations step up to last four with China has 5 representative, followed by Korea (4) and Indonesia (3), Denmark and Chinese Taipei have 2 slots each and 1 spot each for Spain, England, Malaysia, Thailand.

Two MS former champions, Jorgensen and Lee CW also last year winner and beaten finalist Chou TC and Wang ZM respectively progressed into last four. It should be close clash between Danish ace Jorgensen v TPE #1 Chou TC. Malaysian star Lee CW is highly favoured to storm into finale against China #3 Wang ZM as their limping head to head displayed, 14-0 for the two time OG silver medalist. Lee outclassed Sasaki yesterday while Wang needed extra game to eliminate Ouseph.

Reigning world champion Marin looks unstoppable to book final place unless TPE sensation Tai TY who scored first ever winning over the Olympic Champion Li XR yesterday performed extraordinary to overcome her Spanish opponent. Fomer world champion Intanon is back on top here as he knocked out top-seed Nehwal convincingly at last eight. The skillful Thai will face two-time winner Wang SX who had tough battle against Japan young star, Okuhara last night.

Korean has secured 1 final spot in this category, Lee YD/Yoo YS may meet their arch-rival Ahsan/Setiawan tomorrow as these top two seeded pairs is the favourite to eliminate their semifinal rival. Top-ranked Lee/Yoo will take on their teammates Kim GJ/Kim SR, the latter defeated China #1 Fu HF/Zhang N in gruelling match at previous round. Current World Champion Ahsan/Setiawan has Conrad/Kolding for final berth, the Danish #2 surprised their illustrious senior Boe/Mogensen at quarterfinal stage.

Two Chinese WD, Luo twin sisters and fresh combo Huang YQ/Tang JH will get tough challenge today, Incheon AG gold medalist Maheswari/Polii and DEN Premier winner Jung KE/Shin SC respectively. The Indonesian pair has slight advantage to progress as they did at last three meetings. Huang/Tang looks sharp and convincing en route to semifinal including when they stunned Matsutomo/Takahashi at R/16, it's gonna be interesting to see them oppose Jung/Shin.

CHN, INA, ENG and KOR XD pairs will facing each other to eye last round ticket. China last one standing, Lu K/Huang YQ has Indonesian hurdle Jordan/Susanto who performs superbly during this tournament as they downed two high profile pairs Fischer/Pedersen and Xu C/Ma J at second round and last eight respectively. The in-form Ko SH/Kim HN maintain their winning run here and they will up against English couple Adcock/Adcock, recent DEN Premier winner has advantage to advance.

LIVE TV (court 1, 03.00pm local time) matches :

    1) Tai Tzu Ying (TPE) v Carolina Marin (ESP)
    2) Mads Conrad Petersen/Mads Pieler Kolding (DEN) v Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan (INA)
    3) Ratchanok Intanon (THA) v Wang Shixian (CHN)
    4) Wang Zhengming (CHN) v Lee Chong Wei (MAS)
    5) Chris Adcock/Gabrielle Adcock (ENG) v Ko Sung Hyun/Kim Ha Na (KOR)

Hmm... another new combination CHN Huang YQ/Tang JH... I hope the Koreans can match up well and compete a long exhausting 3 sets. I am not convinced this Huang YQ/Tang JH is the right combo. Is Bao Yi Xin only focusing on XD now?

I think Praveen and Debby will pull out a win but it will be a tightly contested match. Both are relatively new pairs but Praveen and Debby have a little bit more match experience. For me, this is the match to watch.

Have to agree with you. The timing in France is so different than our timing here. For me it is even worse the match will only start late at night for my place here. Hmmm.... just like you I don't know how long I can stay up tonight but one thing for sure I will ready with 3 cups of coffee to stay up tonight to support 10 of my idols who will be playing tonight.

Which players are you backing today mate??? Tomorrows Sunday so you probably have an all nighter planned. No emotional investment left for me anymore this week. Will like an RI vs CM final and a tough 3 game match there with both players bringing their A games.

I am referring to my idols for tonight match. Yes Lin Dan is one of them. That is why at the beginning of the match I had 40 idols to support. But then unfortunately as time pass by some of my idols have lost so today only left with 15 idols.
