CONGRATZ to the INA WD: Nitya Krishinda Maheswari/Greysia Polii to break the Korean wall... surprise surprise for being able to beat the home court players. What an achievement to win the Women's Double of SS level !!! GC just mentioned this victory is an ice-breaking moment for INA after the SEVEN YEAR FREEZE !!!
indrg ssj100 It's too bad. Bad judgement from this umpire. Not even close to a receiver fault. She should only fault when it's clearly a fault. On replay on first one, Gill did not agree with the umpire. Listen to her again if you're not sure. And to call another borderline fault again at game point is totally unprofessional. You can move your body as long as your feet are still planted.
Nitya Krishinda Maheswari/Greysia Polii finally won a SS title in WD, having beaten Chang Ye Na/Lee So Hee in the Final today! They fully deserve the title after 2 wins over the higher ranked Wang Xiaoli/Yu Yang (QF) and Luo Ying/Luo Yu (SF) this week. I am so delighted for both ladies, especially for Greysia Polii! She has finally delivered a SS title after all these while. That also shows that patience breeds sweet rewards at the end! So, the INA pair has won the Asian Games 2014, the Korea SS 2015, 2 Chinese-Taipei GPG titles; plus the World-Championships 2015 Bronze. Hopefully, more to come and the aim will be to win a medal at the Rio Olympics 2016 next year. Barring any injury to either lady, they should qualify as one of the top 8 pairs. I hope they can squeeze to the top 2-4 seeds.
Zhang Nan needs a break, playing too much badminton, two events at that; Zhao Yunlei too though less so.
I'm tired of hearing complaint about Zhang Nan plays marathon tournament and two disciplines both MD and XD in one tournament
In the next rankings, Zhang Nan and Zhao Yunlei will have a total ranking points of 102,935!!!! And average of 10000 points for every tournament counted in rankings. I have never seen someone getting those ranking points.
Such consistency, Zhang Nan/Zhao Yunlei, even when physically stretched, truly exceptional, phenomenal.
IIRC, Li Xuerui was the first woman to break the 100,000 level in just 10 tournaments played before her injury in 2014 !
Conclusions for today final results. 1. Korea -2 gold medals, 2 silver medals. 2. China- 2 gold medals, 1 silver medal. 3. Indonesia - 1 gold medal, 1 silver medal. 4. India - 1 silver medal. This is Korea best ever achievements in super series tournaments. Congratulations.
Zhang Nan, great job. Have a good rest, you must be so tired playing two events tournament after tournament. Salute you, and Zhao Yunlei too.
. Victor Korea Open Superseries 2015 : FINALS (20th September 2015) At the end of this tournament, both the KOR and CHN bag two titles each and INA have one. One of the best achievement for the host team, KOR, to bag two titles at the SS level. As well as INA for ending the 7-year drought in Women's Double in SS level. CHN as the most of the time, bag steadily at least two titles at any significant tournament as displayed today. I think personally Zhang Nan should thank the host for saving him from all the MD trouble in the semifinals. He appeared much fresher in the finals thus undeniable in XD. Congratz for all the winners! This is a tournament with relatively many unexpected things after all. Earlier I mentioned that Chen Long is possibly the most successful player in the contemporary competitions, precisely in this year, 2015. But GC just reminded me that Zhang Nan/Zhao Yunlei already won their five titles in 2015. It seems both of them are at tie.
