M/Q Report version 1 (updated 10th August 2015) => http://www.bwfbadminton.org/file.aspx?id=656093&dl=1 DRAW date : 25th August 2015 Overall entry list isn't different with previous week Japan Open, all the elite players have been registered for back to back SS in this East Asia region. Few changes in MD and WD discipline, China continues their experiment partnerships, Lu Kai will be paired up with Liu Cheng again also Bao Yixin will reunite with Bao Yixin here.
Zhong Qianxin, her attacking prowess from the rear court is almost as good as Tang Yuanting. She should make a fitting partner for Bao Yixin who's forte is at the front court. CHN has the luxury of so many possible winning WD combinations that until now we are still not sure which two pairs are firmed up for the Rio Olympics.
I wonder why she would choose the Japan open instead of Korea open, because the later has a lot more prize money than the former.
Korea Open is played in a slow hall, where the shuttles are relatively slow compared to other tournaments. Being an attacking player that does not really suit Marin, as she might have to work harder to get the shuttles down when attacking. Just a guess, don't really know if that's the real reason.
Yup, according to M/Q report version 3 : http://www.bwfbadminton.org/file.aspx?id=659860&dl=1 Nguyen TM, Sai B.Praneeth, Stoeva sisters also have withdrawn as well.
Well the big question mark now is can Lee Yong Dae / Yoo Yeon Seong win their first Korea Open title as they didn't win the title last year. Then can Ko Sung Hyun / Shin Baek Cheol win the Korea Open and defend their world championship 2014 gold medal in this year Korea Open? Or perhaps can Kim Gi Jung / Kim Sa Rang won the Korea open title for the first time? Well all this will remain as question mark and the question will be answered once the tournament is over. So can the Korea MD perform miracles this time? We shall wait and see who are the real winners.
M/Q Report version 4 (updated 24th August 2015) : http://www.bwfbadminton.org/file.aspx?id=660067&dl=1 Another WS top name has withdrawn, Saina Nehwal (IND).
Ohhh nooooo!! I thought she will grab it as CM withdrew.. But as we know about the slow court conditions... Yes she maybe correct in that decision moreover she hasn't done well in this particular tourney for ages now
both saina and marin have played a hell lot of badminton already this year since these two have been making the last rounds of almost all the tournaments they have played except a few and since conditions in korea doesn't suit both it seems to be a wise decision to withdraw, take rest and prepare for the denmark premier super series.. .saina might as well play the thailand grand prix gold who knows.
Two Chinese leading MS, Chen L & Lin D are drawn at same half and barring any upsets their clash will happen at last eight, Momota and Kashyap are another seeded players at top half. At the bottom half of draw, Jorgensen is grouped with Axelsen, Srikanth, Chou TC and Lee CW who once again will start his campaign from qualifying round and expected to face Zwiebler at first round of main draw. In WS, the Chinese trio occupy lower half the draw along with Okuhara while top half of draw will see three other young stars, top-seed Tai TY, former world champion Intanon and 2013 Japan SS winner Yamaguchi also Sung JH as well.
Oh wow. Jorgensen vs Axelsen quarterfinals would be fun. And what's with all the chinese girls in the lower half. Not just the trio of Wang YH, Wang SX and Li XR, but Sun Yu as well... Ditto with the MD. Three seeded chinese pairs in the lower half.
Two consecutive poor draws for China MS; Lin Dan and Chen Long in the same side is quite unfortunate. WS better than Japan since they avoid most of the big guns in their half but being bunched together so close isn't great either. They need to get better seedings for more favourable draws.
bad draw Just looked at the draw and realized that what you say is true indeed. Lin Dan and Chen Long are pitted at the same side. What an unfortunate draw. Then we will not get to see Chen Long vs Lin Dan in the final anymore. Aww. That is sad.
