I'm going to be watching the this tournament on the finals day. Still waiting for the venue location and ticket purchasing information. Anyone else going to be there?

I love Tokyo. The city is so damn clean I can't find a single garbage bin everywhere including in all the parks, imperial palace and temples we visited last month.

A few years ago there was an article in the media stating the Emperor's granddaughter was bullied by seniors at primary school. I was shocked. Imagine how egalitarian the society must be for the royals not to be homeschooled and the kids who bullied her not to have faced extra punishment.

Wow, sounds like a great place to live. I think in the UK people care too much about our royal family. They don't really have much power per se, just a lot of attention and respect. Japan seems to have a good balance of respect and equality.

Were it not for the ignominious defeat of Imperial Japan in the Second World War, would such a rare, unheard-of incident be even imaginable ? History teaches us humility.

All will be good as far as one just ignores the Fukushima Daiichi unsolved issues. Thing is nuclear radiation manifests itself quite slowly, the impacts are taking years to get noticed, and provided one can link its causality.

I am aware that Japan is now relatively affordable for tourists compared to decade ago due to the much weakened yen. Flocks of tourists from the neighboring Asia are getting onboard there due to the cheaper airfares and more choices of airlines. Tourists are much more welcomed nowadays compared to the past practices. Something not deemed as feasible decade ago. I recall in 1990s when I went there everything was so expensive, a cup of instant noodle at the street stall would cost around 1700 yen (iirc); the hotel fare in Tokyo was so high, in order to make it much more affordable one would need to pick a pretty small room. My Japanese friends even joked that one should not compare the small cubicle in Tokyo with those nice hotel room in the rest of Asia, the size might be far below yet the rate was comparable if not higher :) how things have changed over time

Well I immediately thought of William or Edward going to a normal school with commoners. Made me chuckle. At least Anne made a decent effort of raising her kids normally. Also don't many Brits regard the Germans as parasites who thrive on the taxpayer?

Another thing to note is that while the rest of Asia has grown economically in the past 10-15 years, the Japanese economy stagnated and was worst hit by the recession in Asia. No wonder we find it more affordable today.

    Haha exactly.

Not that I've heard of. But to be fair, I make an effort to not interact people who have such opinions anyway.
