Two Japanese young WS, Hoshi and Matsumoto are already through to semifinal and they will meet each other tomorrow. At lower half of draw, we'll see the clash of Euro players, Czech Republic Gavnholt against local hope Kosetskaya.
The price to pay for going back to a defensive game, and fancy schmancy moves that don't kill... hahaha! Russians went on the offensive... and won too easily... !
XD Prajakta Sawant/Dewalkar Akshay Beat [FRA] Emilie Lefel/Ronan Labar [4] 21-18,21-18 MS Ajay Jayaram [3] Beat [MAS] Wei Feng Chong [5] 21-15, 21-13 MD Manu/Sumeeth with 2 walkovers have lost valuable match practice. Momentum is a factor in Badminton. Hope they fight and are not crushed. Ajay and Tommy look hungry! Who has a bigger appetite?
MS quarterfinals have been concluded, clear favourite Sugiarto will meet Dutch GP winner Jayaram at last four and former WJC Zulkiffli opposes surprising Estonian player Raul Must. Malaysia has secured 1 final spot through MD as second seed Goh VS/Tan WK and Hoon TH/Lim KW will facing each other, home hopeful top seeded Ivanov/Sozonov will be challenged by Attri/Reddy. It's a healthy draw in XD department where four semifinalists represented by four different nations. Former world #3 Chan PS/Goh LY is slated to meet tricky test Durkin/Vislova while two Asian pairs will chase last round ticket, Dewalkar/Sawant v Watanabe/Higashino. WD top two seeds, Stoeva sisters and Goliszewski/Nelte have two Japanese opponents, Etoh/Matsuda and Higashino/Hoshi respectively. Journey ends for Tommy Sugiarto here. There is no way past Ajay Jayram.Should be comfortable straight set win for Ajay.
Given the amount of badluck Ajay has had with untimely injuries,Ajay is always hungry. Hope Manu/Sumeeth take confidence from their US GPG RU show and do the untinkable. They won't need to look far for inspiration. Akshay/Prajakta seem en fuego. Will the last two days be broadcast on Star??
Japan remain as the strongest team for this tournament as most of their players have checked into the semifinals. Good job done. Japan is conformed of a final appearance in the WS event when two of their WS will play with each other in the semifinals. Japan also have another XD pair playing in the semifinals and if everything goes well this pair is slated to win in the semifinals and enter the finals Of course I am very impressed with the Japanese players performance thus far because this batch of players are very young by yet they cab play so well. Congratulations.
For the Malaysian side, they are secured of a medal in the finals because there will be a match of Goh v shem / tan wee kiong vs hoon thien how / Lim khim wah. I am predicting that Goh v shem / tan wee kiong will win in the semifinals. As for the XD Chan peng soon / Goh Liu Ying should be able to win their match in the semifinals and reach the finals. The match of zulfadli zulkifli vs Raul Must should be a tough fight. All in Malaysia is already secured of four medals for this tournament.
India's MS strength is inferior only to CHN.It seems like we have endless talented MS.Srikanth,Lord Kashyap,H.S Prannoy,R.M.V Gurusaidutt,Ajay Jayram,B.Sai Praneeth,Sameer Verma and few more i think.Time to upgrade WS too.
Tommy won convincingly today against Pablo Abian, 21 - 17, 21 -9 in 42 minutes only, I put my money on Tommy! In fact he should win the title, Tommy doesn't win any title yet this year.
Time to upgrade all three dubs disciplines. We can't contend for the Cups based on our singles strength alone. Also a third WS is much much required.
Tommy and Simon era is proof of declining era for INA MS department, they can't compete with top three shuttlers like LCW, LD, CL,etc. but they are still top 10 material. Sugiarto in rare occasional moment can compete and even beat the big three. but too bad he has injury problem (back injury), and so does Simon and Sony plagued by injury
Tommy sealed the match easily 21-17, 21-7. Should be a comfortable win tomorrow against Estonian Raul Must in the final. This shutler is in good form recently beating Derek Wong, and today Zulfadli Zulkifli of Malaysia, seeded #4 in this tourney.
