no doubt about that, but tip top condition takes a long time to build up, not just weeks or months before olympics.

to condition the body to tip top condition it takes lot of effort and time

I'm pretty sure LCW's hunger for Olympic gold was stronger than Lin Dan's in London 2012 but it didn't make a difference

True, but for LD to get 2 Olympic golds really puts him in a handful of people who will ever achieve this feat so I'm sure LD's hunger was also pretty high

Here are the quotes of players expected to win the gold:
LD:"I want to win the gold in Rio which can show children around the world how one can realise one's dream through hard work and endeavour"

CL:"Rio 2016 will be the pinnacle of my performance"

LCW:"I hope i can qualify for Rio Olympics"

    JOJ:"except LD,CL and LCW I fear none"

KM:"I need to start winning tournaments"

KS:"On my day,i am better than Lin Dan."

I don't know about that but LCW seemed far more prepared than LD going into the finals. I honestly thought he was going to win and he was dominating the game until he started choking after that bad line call on his flick

Hahaha, If that is Srikanth Kidambi talking then he really is having a laugh. All credit to him for beating LD, but let's be honest: LD wasn't at his best and even then it was a close game. Yes on his day KS could beat LD, but only if LD is having an off day.

By the way, thanks for the quotes.

lol, Lin Dan didn't seem to care. To be fair though, if you've never played someone of that caliber and then you do and beat them, it would be tough to stop talking about it :p

If you write midnight train to georgia, you don't just sing it once

    Oops! Ignore my comment then!

Honestly it doesn't seem to matter. When LD moved faster than LCW, LD won. When LCW moved faster than LD, LD won. I think it's just a mental blockade inside of LCW's head. Maybe scars from Beijing.. who knows

SUPER DAN "kicked out" of CBSL Finale: 473046926.jpg

Chinese superstar Lin Dan is set to miss the Finale of CBSL just like semis and playoffs due to the sponsor conflict.

Lin Dan was signed on loan by Qingdao Hezhan Renzhou Badminton Club only for the playoff after the league this year with the top standard of 1.5 million yuan (about 245,000 U.S. dollar) since June 3.

However, "Super Dan" was informed that he could not participate in the playoff due to the conflict between the sponsor of Lin and the league on Saturday before the first match of the semifinal.

The commercial conflict was mainly due to the brand on the clothes. General method to tackle the problem was to cover the brand on the clothes but the relevant parties of the League did not reach an agreement.

Lin was banned again off the second match of the semifinal on Monday. He expressed some dissatisfaction on Chinese Twitter-like Weibo. "It could be coordinated in the international games. Why it did not work in Chinese League?"

Without "Super Dan", his club still won the semifinal. And Lin played an exhibition match with Ratchanok Intanton as a compensation for the audience in Qingdao.

Qingdao is set to be hugely disappointed as their top player hasn't featured a single time in the tournament despite recieving the highest salary of 1.5 million yuan.

It sucks when sponsor stuff is keeping a player from playing.
