Update on ZM69 Fire: Not wanting to stress Dink's Precision Pros, Dink strung up an old Ultra at 34lbs. with ZM69 Fire and just cleared, dinked and dunked with it for a few sessions and then let it set for a week... ...tension clearly dropped within that week but is now holding steady. The results: the string has lots of power (string stretches), excellent repulsion, and yet retains excellent feel and touch. The best explanation of the string stretching: you know when you do a smash and you feel the shuttle hit the string bed, push backwards and then shoots/catapults forward, exploding off the string bed and gaining more power? This is probably the best, most satisfying feel in badminton for Dink and is what you get that with this string. This new realization is so good, Dink may switch over to ZM69 Fire. More testing to do over this weekend...
Depends, everyone has their personal preference. If asking Dink, yeah, it's better to pre-stretch if you plan to keep your string until it breaks. Dink just uses the built-in 10% pre-stretch on the WISE. If you're a pro and/or want the max playability and feel for the next few matches to a few days, Dink would say no pre-stretch. Any duration of time longer than a few days, the tension will start to drop and not be as crisp.
Got it, tks! And btw, looks like Ashaway hasn't shelved the *ZM60 Fire* string yet... So looking forward to trying it again!
Uhm - sorry, but how do you prestretch a string ? Pulling off the whole reel and pull ? Or just stringing someone lbs higher than you want it to be strung and just waiting till the tension drops to the wanted value ? Sorry if it sounds stupid, but I really don't know ... ! Joachim.
Some stringing machines have an option to pull the string slightly tighter than the desired tension and then release back down to the set tension. From what I understand it is usually a percentage of the final tension. This happens on every pull that the machine makes while stringing.
You can also use manual prestretch with a doorknob, an old tennis racket and a fishscale and prestretch each segment. For 2 piece jobs it's easier to have enough space. I use prestretch rarely. Some strings like BG65 and V850 need it.
Does the colour make a difference in terms of performence? If so is white or orange the better option?
Coming from BG66UM and BG99 (previously BG65), I find these strings have a much harder feel. Comparable to BG80 perhaps? Overall I prefer my previous strings, but I'll give it a few more sessions and see how it goes.
Seconded. Like old zymax, the white was slightly softer. I thought I remebered orangle 62 being smoother too but comparing white to orange 69 just now I cannot notice any difference.
The orange is the hard one?! Lordy me... the white one would have been like rice pudding! My 62F should be here tomorrow, so I can string and so a day's ping testing before my next session.
Does anyone know why MyBadmintonStore is not currently holding any stock of the new Zymax Fire range of strings in 200m rolls...? They don't seem to be saying whether or not they will stock the 200m reels, just saying that they do not currently have stock of that....
