So far Li Xuerui has not been really tested in the tournament. The group stage match with Karin wasn't well played by LXR and the pressure is not as big as in the elimination stage esp the final.

It all boils down to her mental strength; in every other aspects, she is superior. To be frank, she's like Chen Long, maybe worse, unable to perform at her best under the pressure of the burden of expectation.

ZN has suddenly became the most important player in CHN team.

She is what she is! If Li Xuerui is still unable to take up the pressure here, then she won't be a prime player, esp. in the team event. But so far, she's not that bad, it's true that occasional flukes do happen, but much more often she's on the positive side.

I think LD and CL just take turns. I'll bet LYB fully trust CL at this stage, specially against Ueda.

during Thomas/Uber Cup, Mixed Doubles are not played.

During the final of Sudirman Cup this year, Mixed doubles are not played. ( I mean it is highly likely that it won't be played.)

why don't BWF just cancel the mixed doubles discipline altogether...

I think instead Mixed Doubles should be played first, as a matter of rule.

It will be rather funny/spectacular/... if the pair of lovers both involve in duo roles in RIO 2016, in MD & WD in addition to their prime one, XD.

actually, if TYT partners ZYL in WD,
and FHF with ZN in MD, it is possible their respective partners can handle the extra burden to "help out" ZN and ZYL so that the lovers can play XD at Rio 2016...
