mikescully summarizes it very well. Those highly condensed lines are telling a lot indeed, with their ramifications. But understandably, it's sufficient to just stop there.

How I do miss the "Like" button.

Yes. This is in the past. Let's not go there. We do commemorate the ugly history of 1998 every year. We always remember.

I am surprised Denmark MD lineup against Indonesia is not the Mads.

true... no Mads/Kolding. I do not get the Dens' strategy. They are satisfied already as runner-up of the group and do not want to show much till next round?

The runner ups : GER, CHN TPE, DEN after tonight :), and KOREA/IND after tonight. I like INA chances vs. any of them except KOREA.

The highest seeded team after group match in order: CHN, JPN, MAS/INA (we need to beat DEN 5-0 or 4-1 to be seeded higher than MAS).

I presume the higher seeded you are, you will face the lower seeded runner-ups in Qtr final.

INA's sure win against DEN is in MD and the sure loss is in MS, the other three disciplines are relatively open ending that can swing to either side. This will be a very challenging match for INA against the European powerhouse, good that INA passed the ENG hurdle.

Too bad INA is drawn in the same half with CHN and both are scheduled to face each other if both team succeed to surpass their respective opponents..

But first lets analyze INA against TPE match

    MD :
    Hendra/Ahsan vs LSM/TCH : 50:50
Tough match and Hendra/Ahsan aint perform that well lately, but they do really need to secure the point, else, INA will go home earlier :(

    WS
    Lindaweny vs TTY : 35 : 65

    MS
    Jonathan vs CTC : 40:60

    WD and XD
Greysia/Nitya and Towi/Butet will secure a point for INA. ;)

So the key is actually in MD, i predict INA to win 3-2 against TPE or directly lose 0-3 if MD cant fulfill the expectation

I wonder if today INA won 4-1 over DEN, would it affect the half placement of INA?

In other words, is the half placement determined by team seeding or draw because for sure teams seeded #1 and #2 won't be placed in the same half and supposed to meet in the final.

    Nerves will prevail.

MD : Based on H2H, Ahsan/Hendra should have no problem if they are in form. Hopefully they are also not pressurized

WS : Bella vs Tai Tzu Ying, from H2H, quite even. But of course Bella is the underdog. Hopefully Bella when underdog, can perform better than expected

MS : Jo vs CTC : No H2H. Team event pressure will prevail here

WD : Should be INA most probable win among the 5 points. But if INA is 2-1 down, will be another pressure for Greysia/Nitya and based on past team event, they are not that good in this situation

XD : Another INA high probable win and if it comes to this, I would think it will be 3-2

I hope they try Kevin in XD. Towi seems to underperform, maybe because just become a father

I really hope to see Kevin playing!! Would Kevin / Lilyana work?

Btw do you think it makes sense to play XD first (at least seems like INA XD has better chance to win a point)? But then they will need someone playing two matches...

INA should not field Jonatan Christie because CTC has a similar style of play as JC + he is more experienced, stronger and so on. INA should try Ihsan MM instead because he can move faster on the court and has a different style of play than CTC/JC.

Btw, Anthony Ginting has beaten CTC once so INA coaches should have brought him to the Sudirman cup also.

Yes, it is just based on speculation

Gideon/Lilyana pairing is quite lethal, back in 2012, they played for their club in national championship

I think Kevin/Lilyana is not tried before so I don't see that pairing will have a chance to be played in such important stage.

Maybe INA should use Kevin and Polii for XD? That will change the order of play because Polii also plays WD and then INA will not have two of the three best chances last.

Since having posted so much in this thread already I will also do a list of the players/pairs I would field if I was INA head coach:):

    MD Ahsan/Setiawan (most experience)
WS Bella (did not think to hard on this one because TTY will probably win WS anyway:p)
MS Ihsan MM (due to reasons stated in post #74)
    WD Polii/Maheswari (best INA WD)
XD Kevin/Polii (to change the order of play to put less pressure on MD)

What do you guys think of my lineup?:)

If I were the decision maker I would have fielded as your suggestion with exception in XD: remain to be the strongest one in INA team: TA/LN.

As regarding the order of play, must have faith that INA can take the MD & WD to eventually decided by the XD...that it's a 3-2 affair and XD will be the decider so must be the strongest one in stock! Any other line-up is more speculative and posing lesser chance.

in my opinion i think it's better to field experience natsir to play both in XD and in WD either with maheswari or Polii and keep Ahmad / Natsir in order to change order of play

    safer and less risky
