yurimaster2010,

I'm looking only for RCL titanium (76) model, so far done my surveying at 4 shops in Penang mainland here..

1) WanSports (Butterworth) = RM65
2) Badminton shop at Sg.Dua (forgot the name) =RM65
3) Victory sports (ChaiLeng park) = RM65
4) Badminton shop inside Sunway Sport Centre (Seberang Jaya) = RM65

And the salesman said the other brands also affected..and got their official increment letter..

I've no idea at Penang island area..anyone??

There are only 16 feathers per duck or goose that can be use for shuttlecocks. Raising ducks solely for shuttlecock would put shuttlecocks prices at something like us$200/tube...
The ducks are raised first for their meat. In the feathers, the first product is down. The shuttlecock feathers are second in importance.

Workforce is also to be considered. It takes a lot of people to sort the feathers and treat them

OMG!!!The shuttlecock price increase againnn......

Actually I havent play badminton since last August due to work commitment...and luckily we will start back the session on this Thursday nite...meaning that I also havent buy a shuttlecock during these period...last price I bought on last August was around RM65 per-tube, for RCL Titanium 76 model...

Unfortunately......the price increased to RM70 per-tube on last nite..same model & same shop...the shop owner keep apologized to me and said they cannot control the price..I think this is the cheapest price I can get in Penang mainland..the other shops would be more expensive than this..for sure..

Who actually control this price??Malaysia goverment??Or the worldwide company itself? RM5 increased in 5 month is really unacceptable....:(

Same for Holland.

RSL T4 6 years ago, quite decent quality, 10 euros for 1 tube.
RSL T4 now, lesser quality, 15 euros (if you buy 100 tubes, 16 for 1 tube)

In Holland the Forza S3000 shuttles are becoming more and more popular because they are the cheapest around now, about 14 euros for 1 tube. But I really don't like playing with them :(
The durability is not too bad but the flight is so bad...

Stocking shuttlecock in Malaysia is better than saving in FD, more than 10% return in a year. One year increase two times, one time rm4. Anyone interested? We can keep a few containers and wait for price increase.

Not really, I had some more than 10 years old shuttles still play well despite the yellowish appearance. Old shuttles are way better than the current one (ask Black Aeroplane), by the same standard, shuttles now should be better than the future one.

RCL Brand Shuttlecock Distributor in Malaysia

We are the distributor for RCL shuttlecocks. We own the brand but we outsource the manufacturing to factory in China, so all shuttlecocks need to import from China. Over the years, shuttlecock prices have increased mainly due to

a. Feather price has increased (the demand of shuttlecocks has increased as more people play badminton worldwide nowadays)
b. Labor cost in China has increased.
c. GST implementation in Malaysia (this does not affect overseas customers as Exported Goods are excluded from GST)
d. Weakened Ringgit (though RM has become stronger lately but still around RM4.00 compared to RM3.30 vs 1 USD 1 or 2 years back)

As shuttlecocks are something very price competitive in the market, we don't / dare not to increase the price just to increase the profit. As our cost has increased, we have 2 options, either maintain the price but lower the quality OR maintain the quality but increase the price, we chose the latter.

Feathers are organic matter with water inside. As time goes, the water evaporate, the matter loose its flexibility. It is possible to store some feathers, but conditions have to be special, and it is far from ideal.
