To think that Boonsak Ponsana trounced K Tago yesterday. Kudos to Boonsak. Not sure if he can get past JOJ today but I won't rule it out completely, an upset is possible though not highly anticipated as JOJ is unpredictable and inconsistent at times.
Okay this time the Korean players went to the tournament with high expectations to win medals. However, the outcome of the result is disasterous. Lee So Hee / Shin Seung Chan lost straight set to Tian Qing / Zhao Yunlei. Chang Ye Na / Jung Kyung Eun lost to Wang Xiao Li / Yu Yang. Lee Dong Keun lost to Marc Zwiebler. Son Wan Ho lost to Rajiv Ouseph. Kim Ki Jung / Shin Seung Chan lost to Tan Aik Quan / Lai Pei Jing. Ko Song Hyun / Choi Sol Kyu lost to Andrei Adistia / Hendra Aprida Gunawan. Lee Yong Dae / Yoo Yeon Seong lost to Mads Conrad Peterson / Mads Pieler Kolding. Korean have registered 15 players for the tournament. Out of this 15 players, 7 players are knocked out in the first round. The other 8 players that survived are not likely to make it pass the second round either. We can rule out that the partenrship of Ko Sung Hyun and Choi Sol Kyu is a failure. Then the great men doubles, Lee Yong Dae / Yoo Yeon Seong also cannot maintain their winning form which is a great upset to the Korean people. They also lose tamely in the first round of the tournament. This eventually proves that Korean badminton standard is going downhill. Most of the players seems to have lost to an unranked player. Yes you are right from the beginning. I begin to accept that players lose and win sometimes and losing is part and parcel of the game. After the dismal and poor performance of the Korean players in German Grand Prix Gold Open last week, I thought the Korean players would improve. However, all I see is a worse result with 7 players being knocked out in the first round. So anybody with any opinion or any suggestions about how the Korean players can improve? Any other opinion to add on here? I am open to any suggestions here.
