WS is tarting to favour Runners a lot more, expect tall players like Sindhu/ Sun Yu etc to struggle against them.

Is there a stream for todays play?

Japan shuttlers are the only foreign player to challenge home hopes particularly MS and WS.
Final scenario, Qiao v Sakai and Yao X v Okuhara for MS and WS category respectively.

It's CHN v JPN in MS, WS and WD with home pairs have guaranteed 2 titles through XD and MD.
Local hope Ou Dongni/Yu Xiaohan is the frontrunner to win WD title, same case with Okuhara as she's overwhelming fave to add title after crowned MAS GP Gold couple of weeks ago.

The most interesting final match should be Qiao Bin v Kazumasa Sakai, these two mediocre players who will try to rejuvenate their badminton career, Sakai will turn 25 on 13th February while Qiao Bin was already 25 y.o based on this data => http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qiao_Bin

On 12-15-2010 suetyan posted the following information on Qiao Bin's biodata which seems to contradict the information provided by wikipedia.

    Name: Qiao Bin
Date of birth: 18 November 1992
    Hometown: Hunan
Current place: Beijing (currently playing for Beijing team)
    Right/Left handed: Right handed

    Which one is correct?

Another source http://www.badmintoncn.com/cbo_star/star_picList_1062_1.html says it's 17 November 1992. Chinese wikipedia gives both dates on the same page: http://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/乔斌

CYF didn't do so badly. She did better this time around than when she played against Akane in AJC 2014. It was only after 16-all in the 2nd set that NO could stamp her superiority on CYF.

Chen Yufei, soon to be 17 years old, born 1st Mar 2015, looks quite promising - yesterday she upset her senior colleague, top seed Yao Xue, in two straight sets, and today in the final she actually put up a very creditable performance against the JPN sensation and clear favourite, Nozomi Okuhara, going by how the score panned out; on several occasions, CYF was even in the lead albeit briefly. I'd venture to put down her defeat to NO more to her youth, inexperience and lack of international exposure despite the fact that her most worthy, highly regarded opponent is only two years her senior.

In fact, CYF acquitted herself remarkably in this tournament, better than her fellow junior up-and-comer, He Bingjiao. A pity we won't be seeing much of her, including HBJ, in the senior international circuit, as far as CHN second stringers and junior players go as is often the case in the policy and practice of CBA. Nonetheless, she is certainly good for another shot at the next WJC.

Qiao Bin seems to be doing well here after defeating CL last Saturday. Nothing much to shout about the win here since IC is a a tier-4 tournament. Just hope that he will be given more opportunities to play in international tournaments, taking over from the non-performing Gao Huan and CYK.

If I remember correctly, Qiao Bin should be about Tian Houwei's age, around 22.

In this level-4 BWF tournament, he practically overwhelmed all opposition - the overall turnout appeared weak but Sakai is no pushover - and that coupled with his shock defeat of Chen Long the other day in the CBSL in three tight sets of 11-point scoring system, bodes well for him, I think.

With the 21-year-old Xue Song given the coveted opportunity to play at the upcoming All England PSS after his unexpected victory at the Macau Open GPG, apparently in place of the CHN 'regulars' Gao Huan and Chen Yuekun, I am hoping that Qiao Bin might get noticed by the CHN national coaches to earn himself a sort of elevation like Xue Song to be given another go at competing in a series of international tournaments. Verily, there's no better way for a developing player to help raise his game and realize his potential than to compete more regularly in the international circuit so as to gain the much-needed exposure and fruitful experience, with some hard knocks thrown in for good measure.

Chen Qingchen/Zheng Siwei didn't disappoint, they have proven themselves the up-and-coming XD pair to watch, the future looks bright for these two 18-year-olds.

Yeah, He Bingjiao seems to have the tendency to swing in form and consistency rather widely in a match or tournament. Anyway, it's still early days in her young career, and for a talented player in her formative stage, such setbacks as early exits irrespective how strong or weak her opponents are should serve as unforgettable but valuable lessons to help her grow up as quickly as possible, assuming it doesn't happen too often as to depress her.

The short biography of Qiao Bin above is taken from http://www.badmintoncn.com/cbo_star/star_1062.html

According to the paragraph I have highlighted in bold print he did well in the 国家少年队in 2006 and 2 years later was drafted into the国家青年队.
If I am not mistaken 国家少年队 (national junior team) is for those who are 16 YO or younger, and 国家青年队 ( national youth team ) is for those who are under 19 YO, still eligible for WJC. So if he was drafted into the national youth team 2 years after 2006 he must be a cohort of THW and hence around THW’s age.
People who are better informed are welcome to correct me.

You are probably right, that makes sense and is likely the case.

Btw, from the BWF records, Qiao Bin was virtually absent from any international tournaments, including those held in CHN, in the whole of 2014. Not sure what happened to him then. Whatever,I am glad to see him back and showing some promise again.

So confusing :D According to BWF data, his first international tournament was CHN Open SS 2009 : http://www.bwfbadminton.org/page.aspx?id=15719

It really doesn't matter. He could have been 17 in 2009. That will make him 23 this year.

Chinese Wikipedia was edited by a Mr. Wongpong 23 hours ago and now only one date is given, 20 Jan 1990. He must have read your comments.
Qiao Bin's disappearance from the international circuit in 2014 mystified us and now his date of birth is confusing us. By beating CL in the CBSL he has rekindled some interest in him.

He could have been the 3rd MS at Thomas Cup (thus making Lin Dan 2nd) and at Asian Games (instead of Gao Huan). China would have had more chances to win but there might have been a serious reason why he didn't play.
