There was no world championships in 2012, if that is what you mean by "WC." Also, just watch the World Championship final of 2011, where the whole match, almost literally, MF was cheering LCW himself like a fervent fan. The final comments are what sum it up ... (Just after Lin Dan won) The other commentator: Lin Dan wins, blah blah blah ... MF: But, I have been saying this whole week, and I will say it again, that LCW is the best overall player. The other commentator: But Lin Dan just won. MF: Yes, I know! (the tone clearly meant that winning the championships didn't mean much) I have been hearing the commentary now for a long time, a really long time. While GC gets so excited with each attempt that she perceives as a penetration of the great chinese wall, her speech, tone etc. are always critical of Lin Dan one way or the other. And it is the contrast that matters. She is so supportive to other players, not Lin Dan.
MF is always a sour grape.... he must have reflection of himself on LCW and want to tell ppl that he always thought himself the best even never won a world title, just like LCW...
Wow, no Chinese in the Women's singles final again? What's happening? Yamaguchi and Okuhara owning them all it seems?
Chinese womens singles players are also humans, they can't win everything out there. .the top three have almost won everything out there except a few week after week. .i thing they are struggling mentally more than physically at the moment. .but they will come well prepaired for the final tournament of the year, surely.
Srikanth is like the Indian version of CL. tall, calm, very good at the net, and has a sharp powerful smash.
Okuhara is good. not very tall but very agile and quick on the feet. court coverage is very good but can be better. a bit more wild than other Japanese ladies singles. a rally player who is perfect against raging bulls like Marin.
It was a whopper of a MD match just now, Liu/Qiu vs Kamura/Sonoda. I'd better not write Liu/Qiu off tomorrow when they are up against Ahsan/Setiawan but it'll be tough for the CHN pair.
Nozomi Okuhara is without doubt the surprise package here, she scalped Sun Yu, Sindhu, Akane and Marin en route to the final. I'd give her a slight edge over Tai TY tomorrow.
The last Xue Song played Srikanth was in the DEN Open last month, it was a close, well-fought three-setter with Xue Song leading towards the end, 18-16 before losing it. I won't be surprised to see Xue Song doing an amazing run in time to come, hopefully next year.
Agreed, never once I heard LCW's name coming out of their mouths these past two weeks. Guilty or no guilty of the doping charges, his name should've included in the discussions.
I think they cannot speak it openly before the hearing. Speaking of it on this forum and on tv is not the same. They are employed by the BWF and might have cues on that.
