You may not be aware both these tourneys have been rescheduled,no longer in Jan 2015, the MAS Open PSS is postponed to April (to be exact 31 Mar - 5th Apr) and KOR Open SS to September.

If I'm not wrong, Lin Dan's first tournament in 2015 should be the All England PSS 3rd - 8th Mar or the GER Open GPG 24th Feb - 01 Mar. I doubt he'd play in the two GPGs in Jan as it coincides with the CBA winter training.

Totally agree. Knee injury can be difficult to recover if not take it seriously.

Easy points at the risk of further aggravating his 'knee injury'?

Can he be sure he can control the situation during an intense rally without further harm?

What happens if the worst happens? Will he be out of action for a lengthy period which could derail his ambitions?

Sure he can. This is a common singles strategy.

But playing is still a risk that he undertakes and thus accepts when he walks on court.

With 70% speed he picked up 9350 at China open. He was reluctant to increase the speed even it meant defeat at his home town. So, I think he knows when to stop.

I thought he said his aim was to win especially in his home ground. But it was not to be though he really tried.

From time to time, even the best players sustain serious injury that kept them out of action for long periods. Peter Gade is an example and he had to play the qualifications on his return. I think Wong Choong Hann is another. Surely these great players should know how to take care of themselves yet they fell prey.

You guys think Lin Dan lost on purpose. I was watching the game on center court seating, from 4th row. He looked wasn't serious and trolling. The body language was obvious to me. So when he injured himself?

On 15th Oct in R1 of the DEN Open PSS when playing Chou Tien Chen.

Remember Bao Chunlai ? He retired in 2011 also due to knee injury. So Lin Dan really got to be very careful now that he has no intention of retiring anytime soon having set his sights on Rio'16 and beyond.

I am surprised you say that. I think the Korean definitely had better defence. They were trying to return with purpose and they made few errors but had right intention. Chinese team can only attack but not smart. Korean definately had the game under control. First time watched it live and I felt I could see way more than YouTube. I wish I could do this everytime. Also noticed from the smash sound that the Koreans werent using full power most of the time.

Do not discredit K Srikanth, he has beaten world beater in straight two games !!1

I agree with you. K Srikanth deserves the credit for fighting the giant and for his courage. He outplayed LD with his deception and net game. You can win against any big player if you are confident and courageous. Well done Srikanth !!

Well said. Fitness was not a issue for Lin Dan till this final started, or even after loosing the first game narrowly !

Is that a rule that if you win lindan, you need to win next superseries? Lol.

Well done srikanth. He won lindan at his home ground. So that we can find so many dejected fans come with their own judgements and reasons and calculations.

Even I wanna congratulate saina for winning china open title. :)

Saina Nehal played really well. She totally deserve the title. Is that her first super series win?

And Srikanth played really well. No excuses. He won and he deserve the title. I guess thats part of the game. Injury or no injury

Srikanth played really well. He was excellent at net and he played brilliant attacking game without giving him time to react most of the time. He deserves this victory.

He hit 6 to 7 shots out at the sidelines, otherwise the margin of the final score would have been wider.
