Hi renegade we are from the same town haha, Might have bumped into each other in the badminton court. Anyways, My brother used to own BS12 and he plays with me often. He a former junior state champion. He also agrees with my views on NR900 and BS12 So I have the opportunity to play with both. My review on the NR900 is set out earlier and i will still maintain my stand whereas as for BS12, i personally like it too. It offers more power than NR900 in terms of smashing power both are really good racquets. which racquet u need depends on you. BS12 being a balance racquet is slightly heavier than NR900 defensively BS12 is very good and its swing fast - better than My Victor MXJJS, Apacs Tantrum 200 and VT 80 Nonetheless when i'm playing a stronger opponent i usually wield NR 900 - its lighter and swings way faster in the air compared to BS12. Its swings even faster than my fellow friend's Yonex ArcSaber FB But in terms of putting "weight/punch" into your shot when u drive shuttle from the mid or front court, BS12 being slightly heavier offer that extra power So for me, i look at my opponents capabilities before deciding which racquet to use: Weak opponents - sure win games - use MX JJS - I control the court from behind with power smashes with less emphasis on defence Against equal opponents - I prefer BS12 or sometimes NR900 depending on the style of play of my opponent. These sort of matches, i usually take turn with my partner to control from the back of the court. Against stronger/faster opponent (same level with Malaysia National JR level players) - I would definately use NR900. It need its defensive capabilities since i usually be the playmaker in these situation and my stronger and faster partner will control from the back. Against these strong opponents, i rely solely on reflexes and experience in my returns, hence a lighter racquet help. Further as i've indicated before my forte, is my jump slice smash. Against stronger opponent, hard smashes wont dont much harm they will just use your smash momentum to return the shuttle back to u and faster. After a while u will lose your power and stamina. Hence i'm forced to perfect my jump slice smash (preferably cross court) which is very deceptive in nature and only works well if u can keep it within the first 1/3 of the Court. NR900 does give me a better consistency and speed in executing that shot compared to all the other other racquets i own. NR 900 moves the shuttle faster in the air than BS12 but it lack the "weight/power" in the shot NR definately imho places the shuttle closer to the net than BS12 and MX JJS. Recently my brother sold off his BS12 - he prefers his Jetspeed over his BS12. I on the other hand prefer his BS12 compared to his Jetspeed. Different ppl different have different needs according to their skill lvl and style of play. When i give my NR900 to the strongest player in my group to test (He really good btw - winning open tournaments regularly in singles and double) he didn't like it coz he prefer more ooomph in his smash and since his fast already he doesnt need that extra speed in his swing.Trust me when i say that he's smash is almost undefendable. Instead his usual go to racquet is Voltric Z-force 1st Edition and last week he got the new Votric z-force 2 (LCW edition). He said he likes he LCW edition better than NR900 since its heavier and helps out with his smash. anyways if u wanna try out all the racquets ive mentioned come and look for me at badminton court at Nilai. u can gauge my fellow players' skill set from the videos i've posted in this thread as reference.
The strings on my nr900 snaps on average after two to three weeks. So I've been testing different strings. Currently im using yonex 66ultimax @ 28lbs I've tried yonex bg80 power and nanogy 98 at 28lbs. Having tried the above strings, I prefer nanogy98 with nr900. Like the "sharp" feeling that it offers
I'm currently on bg80 @ 24 lbs, it's good but I wanted a string that gives a better sound effect lol. Am considering 66UM, does it sounds better? The max tension on NR900 stated 24 lbs, it holds 28 lbs well?
thanks will try BG 80 when my string snaps. I like Nanogy 98 is because of the "sharp/slicing" sound that it produce when i jump slice smash. Its add a little motivation to my play. That sharp/slicing - high pitched sound make me feel like im cutting through air with a samurai sword. It goes well with jump slice cross court smash. I've clashed with partner's racquet twice with my nr900 strung at 28lbs. So far so good. im used to 28lbs with all my previous racquets. so i'll continue with it. NR900 stronger and more solid than expected. Way sturdier than my friend's ArcFB which broke after the shuttle hit his racquet frame (it was strung at 28lbs too) Please note that i'm quite careless with my racquets. if it breaks then its just another reason for me to get another newer model racquet to try out. I would not expect u to take my views on how much tension it can be strung at.
For jump slice smash, NBG98 is just too slippery. You should try rougher strings like BG80, VS850, ZM65. You would love the crazy amount of spin you can get from then.
Yonex suggested tension is for reference, the frame can take up to an additional 4lbs minimum without any harm. I strung my FB on 27lbs before and it didn't give me any fears of it giving way.
Sunrise is selling NR900 at a discounted price of S$199.00. My friend is having doubts on the quality and popularity of this racket, given that it was discounted significantly for a very new racket. I'm using NR600 now. Is NR900 head much heavier than NR600?
No it isn't. It's very close to even balanced. The 2U ones are probably a touch on the even balanced side BP wise.
Just got this racket. Strung at 26lbs with BG66UM, Karakal PU Super Grip. I play doubles 90% of the time. Previously using the Arc11 & ZF2, this NR900 definitely differs from them. The head of the racket moves so fast that I'm not able to time the swings in my first game for a clean good smash. It's also stiffer than the Arc11 but less so compared with ZF2. Back court clears are a breeze. Drives are fast. Drops are pinpoint. Smashes not so good. A few times where I was in the front with a good chance to kill, due to the light head, I couldn't smash it downwards enough for a steep one. Instead it became a body shot which was called out a couple of times. It requires the user to use abit more wrist strength. Sound of smash is nicer than both Arc11 and ZF2. However, for fast paced exchanges and drives, the sound that it produce is really "dull" as compared to the other 2. It's weird but it's really fast. I guess that makes up for the dullness. Coming from the Arc11, I will need a few more sessions to get used to the NR900. Defense: 10/10 Dropshots: 8/10 Clears: 10/10 Smash: 7/10 Stiffness ZF2 > NR900 > Arc11 Defense NR900 > Arc11 > ZF2 Drives NR900 > Arc11 > ZF2 Smashes ZF2 > Arc11 > NR900 Comfortablility Level Arc11 > NR900 > ZF2

After almost 2 months of using this racket, I can say it's the best racket that I have ever used, better than the NS9900... the slice smash is just awesome and deceptive. Defense is superb, power is adequate, I can say it's one of the better doubles racket out there. I can't go back to head heavy racket anymore or any other racket lol... bye bye my current rackets VT80, virtuoso performance and NS9900
saw a shop selling NR900 at the same price as Arc11 and ZTF, which has me wondered about its popularity in the market. any latest feedback/review on this racket?
