With a 6th seed and a # 6 world ranking, Wang Zhengming has a tough draw including the possibility of facing the # 1 seed and world ranked # 1 Lee Chong Wei! Does anybody have any advice for Wang Zhengming? Could this be an upset by the underdog?
This edition of WC is for LCW to lose. Without LD, all pressure are on LCW. As for WZM, I believe he has 40% chance of beating LCW. My advice is just be yourself, play your own game, LCW is not your only opponent. Focusing only on who you play next, if it happens to be LCW, so be it.
For Lee CW this WC'14 is truly his best chance to win it, largely thanks to Lin Dan's absence or exclusion. Well, if Lee CW once again screw up this golden opportunity to nab the world title, he has nobody to blame but himself. For Wang Zhengming to upset Lee CW will be a dream come true, not impossible but unlikely. Apart from WZM, others posing a serious challenge to Lee CW includes Chen Long, JOJ, K Tago and one or two dark horses, Tian Houwei being one of them I hope, the other one could be Simon Santoso. For such an experienced, old (but not so much in terms of age) warrior as Lee CW, he can certainly handle the pressure of the burden of expectation, the more so as his major stumbling block in the name of Lin Dan is out of the picture. Still, taking the recent past into account, I don't expect it to be plain sailing for Lee CW but I won't bet against him. As for Chen Long, I'm curious to know to what extent he can at this point put the specter of his TC fiasco behind him and rise to the occasion. I must admit I'm not too hopeful about it, probably still too soon for him to come to grips with such a dolorous blow.
It's now or never for Lee CW this time as he must capitalise this rare opportunity - the absence of Lin Dan, he failed to do it in 2010 Paris edition when LD lost to Park Sung-hwan in quarterfinal. The other contenders for MS crown should be home fave Jorgensen and Tago, the dark horse Simon Santoso may spring surprise. The below par standard Chen Long has huge pressure after string of losings lately, his compatriots Wang ZM and debutant Tian HW will play supporting role as usual unless they have extra motivation to perform extremely well.
LCW still have at least 2 more years good badminton in him. He should win this and have a more than 50% chance of winning the next if LD is not playing 2015. Chen Long will meet him in the final. THW is the dark horse.
agreed . CL will meet him in finals I guess , despite how bad he has done in the past. unlikely to have upsets for LCW n CL . My personal guess.
i'm living in singapore and would like to know what time would the matches be play over in Copenhagen? thanks in advance.

Will CL, JOJ and Tago repeat their success over LCW? We have to discount LHI as he is not competing. But LCW has had a good rest recently to prepare for this WC which he is determined to win. JOJ has home ground advantage but can he capitalize on this? Good luck to all rivals of LCW.
I shall put my faith more in Jorgensen and Tago. Except if Jorgensen meets Tago, in which case it shall be all Jorgensen ....... LCW would not have sufficient time to regain his fitness and touch after the injury layoff. Chen Long would not have recovered enough ground after a considerably mediocre 2014 season, and his younger teammates are not yet ready for the big stage.
thanks Clely and Loh for posting the schedule here. the last match will end at 4am local time. :crying:
