Hi Everyone, I wanted to know what opinions are for India in the Uber cup. It seems they have 2 pretty strong singles in Saina and PV Sindhu. Saina is pretty consistent and can beat most of the WS1 excet China, while PV Sindhu is a dangerous player w/ a very strong attack. Outside of China I don't think anyone can match up w/ her in WS2. India has a strong chance to take WS1 & WS2 and get 2 points. Is the 3rd singles world class or not so good. What I'd like to know is how good are the women's double teams India can field. I haven't paid too much attention to them, but I thought there was a team that did ok in World Championships? If they can take a point in the WD1 or WD2 India could conceivably make it to the semi's or final. I want to watch the group match vs. Thailand as there will be a real battle for the singles there w/ the 2 Thai players.
WD are the weak area where india is still lacking. Jwala/aswini, who won bronze in asian championships, is the main pair for india. They did well the group stages. But they have no chance against indonesia or korea etc. India will be in seeded position when they enter quarters. So, they never meet top teams in other groups. That's a good sign.
The Indian eves should strongly believe in their chances in the semis. Saina & Sindhu are definitely favorites over Takahashi and Mitani. Gutta and Ponappana can either be awe inspiring or totally insipid. GO India
