In the run-up to this tournament, HS Prannoy has had a 19-21 game against Lee Chong Wei (WR 1) and has also beaten quite a few players ranked much, much above him. They include: Jan O Jorgensen (WR 5) - in 2013 Boonsak Ponsana (WR 6) - in 2013 Kadambi Srikanth (WR 20) - in Feb 2014 Parupalli Kashyap (WR 25) - in Feb 2014 and the legend Taufik Hidayat - in 2013 Incidentally, Jorgensen was WR 3 when Prannoy beat him. Perhaps Chen Long is in for a nasty surprise in the India Open first round
Sir, you must be a die hard fan of H.S.Prannoy.!!! Whereever, the name Prannoy arises, we can see you on the dice..
It seems like all the indians (MS) in the fray will have tough first round. Lee Chong Wei vs Arvind Bhat (if he qualifies) Chen Long vs H.S.Prannoy Wang Zhenming vs Parupalli Kashyap Du Pengyu vs Sai Praneeth Jan O Jorgensen vs Anand Pawar Do any of these guys have a chance to survive ?? It is interesting to see Aditya Joshi registering for his debut Superseries tournament in the senior circuit..
True talent is easy to spot if you have no biases There are those that explode on to the scene and, for a while, look like giant-killers (Ji Xinpeng, Ronald Susilo, Simon Santoso and Hafiz Hashim are a few examples). Then there are those that quietly appear on the horizon and begin to scalp everyone in their sights (Liem Swie King, Taufik Hidayat, Lee Chong Wei and Kento Momota are a few examples).
Jorgensen hasn't fully recovered from his recent injury. But if Pawar plays his usual defensive game, Jorgensen will murder him.
Concur! Prannoy has all the ingredients for a long and very successful career at the top of the game. If he is not messed with, that is...
No.. I am not saying that he is not talent or anything.. Just wanted to say that his recent performances were not that much good which we could talk about.. I consider Son Won Ho as some sort of standard. If a player beats him, definitely he should be really good. But Prannoy did not beat him in German Open whereas K.Srikanth has beaten him not once but twice which shows how much potential he has. I want to see Prannoy also in that category. Hopefully, he will do good in the future tournaments..
Compared to Prannoy, Srikkanth is one-dimensional. Other players on the circuit won't take too long to work him out, and then he'll be up the creek. If he doesn't mature and working on other aspects of his game, he's gonna be toast. Prannoy OTOH, is the one with very real possibilities.
Similar to Sindhu !!!.. Even Commentators such as Morten Frost and GC were kept on saying that SIndhu has a huge drawback in her game.. She simply pushes the shuttle away from the net all the time. That's why, she had to suffer the defeat against Sun Yu. For once, i thought she will beat sun Yu when she has that huge comeback. BUt again she lost the last point at the net. She need to learn from Saina how to play net . K.Srikanth is one dimensional..!!! May be or not..But Prannoy is good with his backhand shots. I have seen one of his matches where he won many points with his backhand shots.. He has many variations in his back hand shots. Let's see how these guys perform in India Open 2014
The very top Chinese players don't usually play in Chinese national championships. So its level of competition is similar to some GPG, but below the level of the recent Swiss Open GPG. I have never seen Kang Jun in action. He won back to back titles with Sun XiaoLi, a Ma Jin type of player. Tang YuanTing is a totally different type of player. It would be interesting to see how they do. But there shouldn't be high hopes.
default standing orders from coach and team managers jk i think XR is quite strong and unless an unforeseen physical ailment affects her, or, a miraculous omnipotent thunderbolt is presented to her opponent, her chances of winning are quite decent? (team orders not withstanding ) no such thing as an 'unfortunate' draw.. everyone is lucky and unlucky at the same time. the whole amount of luck stays the same for a particular pool, it just gets taken from one and bestowed on another. if they want better fighting positions, win more and move up the ranks. i recently came across a good set of point on badzine (i think) (abt the whole lin dan getting another wild card issue) that sports are not fair in general. badminton ranking/draw systems and favor the strong to keep winning and the others just have to move to a better position overall. and even that doesn't guarantee a better spot next time. as someone said, it's their chance to show off and shine!
