Indeed. And it also lacks a good individual tournament system. Have you seen this website http://www.badminton.me.uk/ ? It is quite old, but things have changed little. Granted, there are now national grades, but the number of official tournaments is ridiculously low and located in remote areas. It seems like clubs themselves cannot organise them.
Do people in UK think badminton is just a back yard casual game like most Americans think ? I guess that British should be more knowledgeable of badminton. Most Americans know nothing about badminton. They think badminton is such a casual and easy game, and only school girls play in back yard, lol, typical uncle Sam, ignorant and arrogant.
...and that, I'm inclined to believe, is the reason for their sub-par performances when you take facilities, coaching and other resources, and the age of the player and measure them against the same form other (Asian) countries. The education vs full-time pro sport issue has become a real thorn for another country where education is taken very seriously as a means for a better life- Thailand.
No, the perception is better. But more as a causal game rather than a competitive game. There is a far easier game called football that can be played in the streets.
Not seen that link before and it's pretty interesting. Certainly, local club organised tournaments might not be integrated into a national structure and no national ranking results from it. Those don't have the publicity and entries tend to be more via word of mouth or internet. But, the information would be difficult to find.
Catching up, but this Lee Chong Wei vs Son Wan Ho game, just wow! Fantastic match. So close and now on to the third game! Just hope the third game is as good. Interesting that it looks like Son is using the MX80. Haven't Victor discontinued this racket now?
Dude... Use some common sense. I said I'm catching up. Did you need to spoil the result for me? Pleb.
