Mark/Paul, the account of your "adventure" is excellent. So cool you guys have been set up in an apartment across from the NIA. Looking forward to more. Aside from VS850 (which is the only one you have mentioned), what other strings have been popular with the pros?
Well, I can say for certain that one of my rackets has been on court... because Ahmad broke it yesterday at the end of his third set. Turned up back at the apartment straight away. Turns out he uses a G6. Very interesting.
Ahmad and Natsir's were off-the-shelf rackets - same as everybody else. The only KRP we've seen so far (we think) are Ko Sung Hyun's, because those definitely swung taller. We haven't seen anything from Fernaldi yet - doubt we will, actually.
Oh now that explains a lot to me now. I always thought his racket grip was really..small..and using a towel grip it actually looks really obvious when you watch his games.
No. If we can get 33/33 without borking them, we're doing it right. I may end up changing to bottom-up after this week, y'know...
We decided at the start to 2PBU everything. No frames have gone bang, and that's all we can ask for. We did get a few with string still in that we could tell had been done in one piece the previous time, but to be honest, the players probably don't care; they'll test the rackets for ping, and if they're consistent, job done. They have all specified main and cross, which helped us out a lot.
TPE have lots of TK8000, actually, which was a surprise. The SW35 was an even bigger surprise, but the WTF-of-the-week goes to the Super Ti 17 that turned up yesterday afternoon. Ben couldn't make head or tail of it. Shin B.C. dropped his rackets off in person, which was nice of him. 32/33 on... whichever string was wrapped around the handles - I didn't bother checking.
Oh ... nice info... G6 hmmm... this is new to us... Thanks mate! That's too bad... well it seems that Fernaldi strung his racket from here, where his parents own badminton store in west Jakarta.
Nice one Mark as it saved me doing it. It's been an incredible experience this week. All the players that dropped in or collected their rackets were fantastic. I'll write something and post it on my blog later in the week with a few photos to add too. I'm already looking forward to doing it again next year. Paul www.badminton-coach.co.uk
Mark, Thanks for uploading scan copy of the detailed stringing job. I note that there are several columns left blank in the string type section. Care to explain why ? or perhaps the player choose other brand string ? Btw, I don't see the stringing job for JS8 ST used by Liliyana Natsir in the semifinal.
Clawhammers We didn't string Jetspeed for Natsir so it must have already been strung beforehand. Generally we listed string if it changed rather than filling in every line. Paul www.badminton-coach.co.uk
Paul Thanks for your prompt reply and clarification. Have a good day mate. Both Mark and You have done great in supporting our players
Yep - Victor have changed to the YY system now, anyway. Found a TK8000 - Lee Sheng Mu, I think - at 3UG6, and Shin BC had G6 TK9000s. Given the number of G6 rackets around now, I would have thought the G6 handles would be available as a spare!
Damn, G6! Lol. On a side note, I still find Victor's comparative sizing ever so slightly thicker than Yonex's. At least on the new rackets I've compared anyway. Don't know if anyone else has found that or if I'm just losing my marbles lol.
