Lee CW v Momota, the very promising youngster will learn something from vast experienced and one of MS current best. My pick: All the three ladies from China and Thailand's May. They should be because they are seeded 1,2,3 & 4. Michelle Li is the unseeded outsider while the remaining are seeded 5, 6 & 7. Almost a perfect seeding but kudos to Michelle for going this far.
I'm predicting SJH, both Wangs, and May. LXR has had two three-setters and had to scrape past both opponents, she doesn't appear too in-form.
The All England crowd are definitely getting their money's worth with the ladies singles. Only comment on one match. And that is I hope Michelle Li gets a win. It's going to be tough but she's spent a lot of time on court and should know the court conditions very, very well. Physically, I don't think she has quite the change of pace that some other players have. Secondly, I don't get the vibes that she has that belief that she can do it from seeing her play before. Still hope she wins though.
I think you nailed it there... self belief. And I think she's more of a soft player and trails the others by miles in experience.
Not trying to be picky, Wang Yihan's nickname in Mandarin is actually 'Kitten' to imply cuteness, adorability though it has more to do with WYH's feline features - a cat being older and bigger than a kitten would be too but a little less so, I guess.
I think by calling her "the cat" is actually empowering her. Think a lioness stalking her prey. That's how I see her
You mean, like a certain Clive Lloyd? Actually I think of WYH as the praying mantis. Always reminds me of that when she prepares to receive serve!
Whatever she is nicknamed, I think we all agree she is looking good and ready to devour her opponents
