First time I watch Gade was when he was in his late teen/early 20s. I was very impressed with his skill level at that young age and over the years, turned out to be one of the best we have seen. Last I saw him was at Surdiman Cup in Beijing 2005.
Great player, a real gentleman....greatly missed. All the best Peter Gade and thanks for many years of entertaining badminton.

Peter Gade has just finished a badminton exhibition in Vancouver this weekend. Just prior to that, he sat with Jonathan McDonald for a little Q&A. Here is the link, and a few excerpts...

    Q&A ... with Peter Gade

By Jonathan McDonald, The Province February 8, 2013

    http://www.theprovince.com/sports/with+Peter+Gade/7937005/story.html#ixzz2KYjZ2Jwc

    Excerpts:
Q: In Canada, hockey players walk down the street and are instantly recognized, idolized. What's it like for you in Copenhagen? Can you go anywhere in peace?
A: There is nowhere in Denmark that I go where I'm not recognized. The people in Denmark are very humble and respectful, so it's great that I'm recognized. At the same time, I'm able to go about my daily business.
I'm also well known in many of the Asian countries, especially in Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. I really can't complain as its part of the game.

    ...(On the OG2012 fiasco)
A: Badminton is not the only sport where this has happened. It's happened in many other Olympic sports.

The men's singles finals between Lin Dan and Lee Chong Wei was only surpassed in terms of the number of viewers by the finals of the 100 metres. So in the end, badminton was very well received.

Q: If the similar situation was presented to you, what would you have done?
A: It would have been a difficult situation for me. I was presented with a similar scenario, where if I had lost to a teammate then he would have gone to the Olympics and I had already qualified. I did not lose.

Since noone has posted this yet. From PG's Facebook :

Hi Guys, just wanna bring you all an update of how I'm doing in my "new" life :) I feel great and I'm enjoying my life.... The start of 2013 was the beginning of a lot of new things in my life in many aspects and for the past 3 months I've been trying to get everything in the right place.. First of all, I've used a lot of time in settling in my new home together with my 2 girls here in Holte, Copenhagen.. Secondly, I've been kicking off my new role as a coach in a youth talent project, being the Chief Coach in this project taking care of some of the best young players between 14-16 years in the eastern part of denmark. My good friend Jim Laugesen is also part of the project as a coach. I have really enjoyed working with these kids so far:) At the same time, I've been doing a lot of meetings and research regarding activities in Asia in a kind of ambassador role in cooperation with danish companies with interest in Asia. Primarily focus on China, Indonesia and Malaysia. These is really interesting for me and I hope that before long I can revile some of these plans. Off course I miss my life as a badminton player :) But mostly the daily practice.. I have no problem with not taking part in tournaments and a lot of traveling, but I really miss the daily practice in Brøndby... However, occasionally I take part in the mens singles practice to do some sparring with some of the young players... :) I'll be back soon with more news. Take care, Peter
