Made a discussion forum on these two as i can' seem to find any yet. These two rackets are very similar to each other. . Some say the MX JJS was the about to be MX 90 back then. . Even Paul is having a hard time comparing these two. . Any comparisons? . . . . . . . . . Or both are just the same rackets?
this is how i think it went. just before Olympics. LYD/JJS was hot item. Victor wanted to take advantage of the marketing opportunty, and afterall, LYD already have a racket named after him, JJS would certainly be jealous. and just happened, Victor had a racket already designed and ready: so conveniently, they just changed the name from X90 to JJS. and the world was happy as it is a great racket and it works perfectly from marketing point of view. fast foward a few months, JJS decides he is done with badminton and decided to retire. There is no point to keep a racket for someone who don't play anymore. however, Victor has a great racket design in the MXJJS(*I* loved it), so why waste it. they of course cannot just put back the X90 name to the same graphics, so they went back, took the same underlying physical design, put up a new graphics, and released it as they were planning to do it a year ago.
Why is there not a point to keep a racket for a player who doesnt play anymore? How about Lee Hyun Il , Taufik , Gade , and more? The fans loved it , many are happy with it . But why make another racket with the completely same spec as another? Is Victor conscious that we are not idiots? Victor could have done a great step under YY and Li Ning if they had created a new model , a new design , not just the graphics. If they created something like the MX90 with a different spec . Many of us just knew MX JJS and MX 90 are ALMOST COMPLETELY the same , what is victor thinking? Are they trying to fool us and make their reputation go down? Yes , they have a good reputation for making quality rackets , but when you're paying for another racket which is the same as another , i dont think that's a good idea. Victor could have taken the opportunity to get a lead against Yonex and Li Ning as their new models currently "suck" . Look at the Z Speed and the N90 3. Just my opinion , dont be mad at me.
Hmmm personally i dun feel MX90 play or feel the same as MX JJS. You can definitely feel the difference when switch between two. MX90 is much similar to MX London IMO
There could be a number of reasons why Victor decided this was how they wanted to increase their revenue. I would assume a successful company like them wouldn't make such a silly mistake (most of the time). Maybe they're just running out of ideas.
Personal preference i guess. Some may or may not like it. So far MX80 feeling is da best. Lively and direct
I have a slightly different theory. JJS helped develop the MXJJS so I don't think Victor simply renamed the MX90 as the MXJJS to satisfy JJS's wish to have his own racquet - if it was his wish to have one. I think the racquet was indeed designed for him, but obviously it would have to have similar qualities to the popular and his trusty MX80. Victor probably already had the MX90 in mind but did not want to release it to compete against the MXJJS. But as JJS retires - which I think Victor would have known long before the rest of us, they would have planned to try and reap as many sales on the MXJJS before the JJS hype died down. Now JJS has retired for sometime and the MXJJS has had its time in the spotlight, it is probably time to burn another hole in our wallets with a slightly tweaked version of the same racquet. Signature racquets in victor are probably seen as a top of range side racquet, a bit like the "Z" range in yonex, which distracts from the usual line enough for you to know that the MXJJS was never a replacement to the MX80 and keeps fans of the MX80 waiting for a successor. Just like the fans of the NS9900 hoped that the Z-speed would be a replacement... I've not tried the MX90, but if reviews are suggesting it is very similar to JJS, I'd rather wait for the MX100... lol
MX90 has a thinner shaft 7.0, while JJS has a thicker shaft 7.2. The thinner shaft make the racket a slightly flex and it also shown by the position in the graph.
Looking forward for more comparison reviews like this, so that other MX90-enthusiast BCers can decide whether to own it or not
Both are very similar , it seems that what we can compare are milli-features-specs , and not the general So , shall we accept that these two are lost TWINS?
The materials claimed for MX JJS and MX 90 are different. MX JJS uses graphene MX 90 uses hybrid composite, which is similar to MX London However, I note both rackets are similar in terms of (1) frame design, (2) balance point, and (3) shaft stiffness, which all subject to categorization of MX series (all-round class). Perhaps this is the cause that many of us share both rackets are similar in terms of the feeling and game play. I have yet to play with MX 90, still waiting for its availability in my country CMIIW
When will MX90 be released there? February? Im gonna give my review on JJS on late January. Perhaps we can compare them clawhammers
@Yeahehehe Up to present, MX90 only available in Taiwan. I don't understand why would Victor officially announced MX90 very early (around late July 2013), but made the global distribution so slow ... But the retailers here explained that probably it would arrive around late January 2014. I look forward for your review for JJS then.
