Eight matches (WD and XD) in 4 days for Zhao Yunlei, not to mention the previous week's, she too is feeling the strain. I think the KOR pair Kim/Jang will emerge victorious.
WSX's shutout of Bae YJ continues, 8 - 0 ? This time a very close affair, 21-19 and 22-20. But for K Tago, he finally broke the duck, from 14-0, it's now 14-1 to Lee CW. Perhaps age is finally beginning to take its toll on Lee CW at 31, not just physically but mentally as well, as he has to grapple with that loss to Chen Long last Sunday.
For sure, JOJ and KT will relish this golden opportunity to fight for a SuperSeries Title tomorrow. A tough call, both have equal chances.
yeah i was surprised he decided to take part in the FO in the first place. Only 1 day rest after 3 grueling 3-setters in DO. Maybe it was his joint decision with Tei Seubok to gain some ranking points to prevent Chen Long from closing in on him as the world no1. And they though sortta no strong rivals in the FO, so it'll be easy. Turned out to be a disaster. Tago actually (besides being precise in general) employed the tactics many others had success with against LCW - Rumbaka in IO, Jorgensen in DO. Keep the net - heavy smash. Btw, proof once again that japanese people don't have souls ) No emotions from Tago on beating the world no1. After 14 losses. Look at Chen Long's reaction in DO! And he's beaten LCW numerously! Tago's lack of emotion very reminiscent with Yamaguchi in the JO. No emotions. just like she's just won some training match.
Because of the delayed telecast here in Singapore, I just witnessed the last match between LCW and Tago about an hour ago. This is an ungodly hour to watch badminton and I would not have done it if tomorrow is not Sunday to enable me to catch up on my sleep. An upset has to happen. In their last meeting Tago gave LCW a scare before losing. But in tonight's match it was Tago again who gave LCW another scare but he triumphed in the end. Tago had changed his game plan. Instead of long and defensive rallies, he became more aggressive and increased his speed with accurate smashes and fast drives at every opportunity. His net play was also above par. Perhaps he and his coach knew that LCW would have become too tired after so many outings and they decided to adopt this speed and attack strategy to force LCW into making uncharacteristic errors. Kudos to Tago for being able to carry out his plan with intensity and a new sense of urgency, daring and commitment. He managed to maintain the high intensity pace for the entire match to emerge the winner. It was Morten Frost who first identified LCW as a young talent and got him inducted into the national team eventually, It was also Frost who saw Tago as a player with great potential but yet to realize this until perhaps this historic match with LCW. Will tomorrow's final see Tago as the player who would finally prove that Frost is again right? Will we see the crowning of a new champion from Japan, whose mother had shown the way in the same game decades ago? This French Open is full of surprises and tomorrow is unlikely to be different. Time to go to bed.
LCW is getting old and I don't think he will win any more major title. Enjoy the top ranking spot while you can!
MD has 2 unexpected finalists. Koo/Tan was already written off by many because of recent poor performance but they are in final. Markus probably playing in his first big final. Definitely will be a boost to other INA player if they win, that means more player able to win SS.
the most disgrace was someone ask to cancel the match. an insult to tago and badminton. glad that my fave, tago able to win it. loser always be loser because they never fight, they escape.
