What a pathetic display from Gilmour, and Nehwal isn't even playing that great. No fighting spirit at all!
Kirsty who impressed at London the other week played like an amateur today and is summarily dispatched by Saina.
Gilmour is completely outclassed by saina. Though Gilmour impressed me in her previous tournament, this time she is wrong footed many times.
She can play miles better than this; I saw it in her match (against Marin I think it was?) at the London event. Her playing against Nehwal today was just...appallingly bad. She didn't have any confidence at all, she obviously didn't think she could do it and so she didn't.
Tago Sony playing. No idea who I think will win. If Tago's h2h with Sony weren't 0-4 I would consider him favorite, I think the commentators should mention that, then again, he had never won playing WZM as well.
Good rally. Really good defense from Sony. Tago was pushing him but he managed to take it all. And on the next point a quite passive lift from Tago.
So stable play from Sony. Very good clears and pushes to get Tago out of balance. Don't really know how Tago can get into this match, Sony is reading him very well. Maybe keep smashing and taking the initiative, can't have Sony control it like that.
An emphatic win by JOJ against Kashyap but unfortunately he has to face Lee CW tomorrow (I jumping the gun confidently).
Maybe K Tago should rally a bit more and bide his time to attack in the hope of tiring Sony considerably as his fitness is suspect, a la Du Pengyu. Alternatively, speed up the game and attack fiercely but that would require a lot of energy and not at the expense of accuracy, a la Lee CW. Easier said than done.
But Sony is a highly experienced and capable player who on a good day can trouble almost anyone apart from you know who.
Sony takes it. A bit surprised that Tago weren't able to win the 2nd. Good play from Sony. Tago's coaches should be able to pin-point what Tago needs so change when facing Sony right now...
