Yup, big upset so far, last year runner-up Lindaweni lost to lesser known local WS :(
Looks like all three INA WS are sent packing at R/32, Firda is still playing against Busanan now, 16-21 / 8-15...

Thank you for pointing me to the thread that allows me to know the story behind as well. The problem between athlete and national team coach do happen at BAT also but, well, I think it is common problem in the sport.

SonWanHo is a military man. He is returning back to circuit nowadays and trying to gain ranking points. This is not upset actually.

Ashton Chen losing to Shon Wan Ho isn't that unexpected but Hsu Shao Wen , a relative unknown, beating Anand Pawar (8) is an upset of sorts, I should think so.

Not really. I've had the pleasure for seeing Shin Seung Chan and her WD partner Lee So Hee playing at the Singapore open this year. Iirc they competed at the juniors last year and I managed to watch a few clips on youtube. She's a pretty good player. Only thing she lacks is experience at the super series level of play which she has been steadily getting slowly over the year now. She's young fast and definitely a pretty solid all round player. Whether she makes a good partner for LYD though will remain to be seen over time but I think it should be interesting to watch this XD pairing even if you aren't a fan :D

Today's QF matches will be started on 12.00pm local time : http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/matches.aspx?id=17ABDFDB-92C9-48DE-9228-5FD3B9443235

Four local MS players advanced into last eight round while KOR XD pairs have secured 5 of 8 slots, also 4 pairs in WD category.

Interesting clashes : Axelsen v Hsu JH, Son WH v Chou TC, Sung JH v Porntip, Busanan v Bae YJ.

Well, 2 INA representatives will face tough QF opponent, KOR pairs are the fave to win.
