    This was reported today here http://sports.sohu.com/20130816/n384328941.shtml after the official announcement given by Mr. Liu Xiao Nong, the Vice Chairman of CBA cum Executive Director of the World Championship Organising Committee yesterday 15/Aug:

    上周日广州羽毛球世锦赛男单决赛之后,马来西亚男单教练斥责广州天河体育馆在比赛时突然关闭空调导致李宗伟对球路判断失误并虚脱,“空调风波”由此升级。昨日,中国羽毛球协会发布官方通报,称比赛期间,包括决赛当天,场馆空调自始至终没有关闭,一直保持低速运转,温度上升,是因人员密集。

      在那场“林李大战”中,李宗伟因大腿抽筋而退赛,林丹收获了个人的第五个世锦赛冠军。李宗伟首局胜出,但第二局多次对球的落点判断失误,第三局更因身体虚脱、大腿抽筋而退赛,成就了林丹再次夺冠。李宗伟赛后被直接送往医院。

      赛后,马来西亚男单教练郑瑞睦称决赛进行到第二局时,天河体育馆内的空调被突然关闭,他怒斥这是一个肮脏的手段,“比赛中途把空调关上,让球员处在不利的状态,这一切我们完全不能容忍。”据马来西亚媒体报道,郑瑞睦发现体育馆空调关掉后,就马上向世界羽联投诉,但世界羽联对此事不知情。“空调门”爆发后,有人质疑广州羽毛球世锦赛组委会的做法,也有人质疑林丹这块金牌的成色。不过当事人李宗伟本人表示,比赛失利是自己失误所致,不能归罪于任何人。

      昨天,针对这场“空调风波”,中国羽毛球协会副主席、广州羽毛球世锦赛组委会执行主任刘晓农代表中国羽毛球协会发布通报,称世锦赛决赛当天空调保持低速运转,自始至终没有关闭。

      通报称:“一、比赛期间,包括决赛当天,场馆空调自始至终没有关闭;二、决赛之前,组委会了解到部分运动员对比赛场馆的风向提出意见,为了给运动员提供良好的比赛环境,在决赛当天将场馆空调保持在低速运转;三、决赛进行到最后一场男单决赛时,场馆观众爆满,由于空调低速运转时间较长,人员密集,造成了馆内温度的上升;四、男单决赛期间,裁判长感觉温度上升,随即向组委会了解情况,得知空调并未关闭、比赛条件没有临时改变后,比赛继续进行。”

      这份通报中的“空调始终保持低速运转”与此前媒体报道的内容显然有出入。据新华社12日报道,赛事组委会相关人员曾表示,当时是世界羽联担心风向影响比赛,要求关闭空调的。“比赛时看台上和主席台上坐满了人,我们怎么可能想要关闭空调?”

      针对上述“世界羽联决定关闭空调”的说法,刘晓农在通报中解释称:“这一说法属于不了解具体情况的个人观点。中国羽协和赛事组委会从未表示过比赛条件被临时更改,同时也从未说过此事是由世界羽联决定的。”

      在中国羽协的这份通报发布后,世界羽联也对这场“空调风波”做出了相关回应,称当天他们没有要求调整空调的运转情况;并表示广州世锦赛组委会和中国羽协已向世界羽联声明,没有做出任何有关“世界羽联要求关闭空调”的官方声明。

    I will just roughtly translate the part highlighted in red as the others have been repeated many times already.:

    The Official Announcement from CBA states:
    (1) The A/C remained ON throughout the final day of tournament;
    (2) The Organising Committee adjusted the A/C to LOW at the start of the final day, after receiving complaints from players about the draught and wanted to provide a better envionrment for competition;
    (3) The hall was full during the MS match, due the A/C running at low speed for a long time and the large crowd, the temperature rised quickly;
    (4) During the MS match, the Head Judge did query the Organising Committee about the rise in temperature. But after being told the A/C was not turned off and there was no sudden change in the match condition, the match was allowed to continue.

    Mr Liu then went on to explain the earlier report on 12/Aug about someone from the Organising Committe said that it was BWF who requested for the A/C to be turned off was wrong and that was an "personal opinion" from someone who has no idea what actually happened. He then stressed that neither CBA nor the Organising Committee has made any such official statement about the match condition being altered nor have they said that the changed was at the request of BWF.

    The article also reported that after CBA issued the above public statement, BWF has also issued an statement that they did not make any request during the final to turned off the A/C.

    LCW gave walkover and didn't bother to shake hands with the Umpire and Line Judge, there should been a yellow card or a US$250 fine for that, right?

    to his defence, after LCW gave the walkover, they shook hand, and immediately LD pointed to the medics to ask them to get a stretcher over. and then LD shook hands with the umpires, had a small celebration, and then he went over, helped pick up LCW onto the stretcher.

    i actually thought that displayed a decent amount of sportsmanship and care for his opponent.

    Take a deep breath and look in the mirror at the reflection and then read what you have written, and then think carefully does it even make grammatical sense?

    You should write some formal complaints to the BWF voicing your endless outrage at the CBA pathetics and spend less time trying to fuel the "trolling" through laughable statements.

    Exactly. The fact is that you are just a believer. You just believe LCW's loss is due to air con.
    In fact, the air con was never off. When looking at the match, only Steen was saying that this AC was down. He is a LCW fanboy just like you. Don't deny it, only LCW fanboy will be act like such a sour loser.

    Yes, people just want to believe what they want to believe, and you just can't reason with them! Even if it has been analyzed and said repeatedly that the heat affected both players, they insisted that it must be a conspiracy! They could give no reason why the heat would benefit LD, but yet they insisted!

    Actually, who in his right mind would even think of using heat as a weapon towards a Malaysian player? It is not like they could keep LD’s side of the court cool, while heating up LCW’s side!

    I hope LCW doesn’t think like these “supporters”, or else he will never beat LD in any major tournaments. Finding excuses for losing will not make you any better!

    I really wish LCW can get at least 1 WC or OG gold before his retirement, as he surely deserves it!

    What's your problem? He was carried out by medics and taken to a hospital and you want him fined? Not sure if you're serious. Also retiring from a match and giving a walkover are two different things.

    Oh please, I am a fan of Lin Dan and not LCW but it was blatantly obvious that the air-co was shut down. At first I didn't understand what was going on but in retrospect it's easy to piece the puzzle together. LCW said in an interview that he knew after just 2 points in the 2nd set that the air-co had been turned off.

    the point is does the a/c turned off?(not who won the wc:rolleyes:)

    1,everyone who went to the stadium know the truth.
    i dont believe any of the explanation either by china or bwf.
    stating that its because of the amount of crowd:rolleyes:,does any world top class badminton venue(this is world championship,my friend,not guangzhou province open tournament) face this problem?
    as if we believe the flyover collapse because of the overweight truck who carry hundreds of ton(people in china would understand the case:D)

    2,GC and steen already said during the beginning of 2nd set,certainly they cant foresee lcw lost because of this.;)

    can we avoid to award some top class badminton tournament to a venue who cant handle the heat of 8,000 crowd?:)
