    it is a lose-lose scenario for BWF:

    - if they initiated the turning off of the A/C, then they will get the wrath of the whole Malaysia against them.

    - if they didn't know anything about it, then people will question why they have no control over their own event!

    Told you guys BWF screwed up big time.
    They gave LD the wild card so that he would stay in the sport and glorify it, therefore they probably have to make sure that he wins it.

    To CBA, this is for the nation.
    To BWF, this is for the sport.

    Probably, possibly, maybe... This is really not the right attitude for a meaningful discussion.

    [h=5]BWF STATEMENT RE. AIR-CONDITIONING LEVELS DURING THE WANG LAO JI BWF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
    MEN’S SINGLES FINAL

    “There have been a number of questions and comments pertaining to the state of the air conditioner during the Men’s Singles final of the Wang Lao Ji BWF World Championship last Sunday in Guangzhou, China.

    During the Finals, the temperature in the venue rose throughout the evening, but it was particularly noted during the Men’s Singles finals.

    BWF enquired about the operation of the air conditioner during the Men’s Singles final and also post-tournament. The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) has confirmed to the BWF that the air conditioner in the venue was not turned off at any time during the finals, but that the air conditioner was set on low from the beginning of the day (Sunday). However, due to the increase in the number of spectators attending on finals day – and in particular during the Men’s Singles match – the temperature went up and the venue became hotter.

    BWF did not request any changes to the air-conditioning levels and the LOC and CBA have stated to BWF that no official announcement from either organization has been to media that BWF ordered changes to the air-conditioning levels.[/h]---

    The problem with this thread is the determination of its purpose. If you keep on harping on the AC issue with cramps, speed, drift, this and that, then that is where the problem starts. Because there is no finite mathematics for determining the accuracy of loss and win probability. If there is, i would have already won toto.

    The thread should be like this: Is turning off the air cond (if what is alleged is true and indeed happened), right thing to do? That should be the main topic of discussion. Once you go the wrong pathway as I have just mentioned, then sayonara to a never ending hypothetical thesis and what have you.

    So now, no more who wins and who loses. Shift the focus on the management, not the players. I know you all would like to draw conclusions to fit your own theories ( both side of the bench), but the variables are just too huge to conclude any concrete answers.

    Ok, so, - If the air cond was turned off without proper consultation, do you guys thinks the consultation should be done with the respected affected parties, and if yes, why? if no, why? Now, this is a better thread title. :cool: We leave out the who loss and who won issue ok? But rather, concentrate on the issue at hand, is that act a responsible thing to do? Ok, students, hand in your essay now. I don't want to hear LD or LCW in this essay.

    Well said. I really think that the AC has gotten out of hand here. Making the AC issue as an excuse for a player losing the game is ridiculous. It is clearly a fitness issue.

    If anyone can prove that the AC issue is a scandal, then we might have a case here. As for now, let's just forget the past, move on.

Aah.. feels free to let it out of my chest.:D ( You know it's them when their names are kok,cock,whatever..)

    It's well written but a hoax until proven otherwise. Such a statement should either be on the BWF FB page itself or website.

    Where did you did get it from?

    from my personal experience, the temperature did not noticeably rise until game1 or game2 of the msf.

    the increase in the # of spectators is surely not the reason for the sudden rise. the stadium was more full during the msf, but it's something like from 80% full to 90% full.

    if the author of this is really bwf, well... bwf probably got the info from the organizers, who of course would be telling them half-truths and bs

    has it ever happened in any other tournament that the temperature suddenly rised by at least 5C due to an increase in the number of spectators and their excitement?

    The official letter from the event organization:

    中国羽协关于2013年世界羽毛球锦标赛空调事件的通报

      尊敬的各位媒体,

      大家好!

      2013年世界羽毛球锦标赛上周在广州顺利闭幕,比赛精彩纷呈,也得到了在座和其他媒体的大力报道和支持,在这里我代表中国羽毛球协会对大家表示感谢!

      近日,我们注意到有媒体报道,称决赛当天世界羽联因担心风向,要求组委会关闭了场馆空调,从而造成了馆内温度上升。世界羽联对此事也十分关注,在此,我代表中国羽毛球协会对此事正是通报如下:

      一、比赛期间,包括决赛当天,场馆空调自始至终没有关闭;

      二、决赛之前,组委会了解到部分运动员对比赛场馆的风向提出意见,为了给运动员提供良好的比赛环境,在决赛当天将场馆空调保持在低速运转;

      三、决赛进行到最后一场男单决赛是,场馆观众爆满,由于空调低速运转时间较长,人员密集,造成了馆内温度的上升;

      四、男单决赛期间,裁判长感觉温度上升,随即向组委会了解情况,得知空调并未关闭,比赛条件没有临时改变后,比赛继续进行。

      五、事后有媒体采访组委会相关人士,该相关人士向媒体透露,场馆闷热是由于世界羽联决定关闭空调引起的,这一说法属于不了解具体情况的个人观点。中国羽协和赛事组委会从未表示过比赛条件被临时更改,同时也从未说过此事是由世界羽联决定的。

      六、通过此事,我们也在总结办赛过程中出现的一些问题,尤其在对外宣传方面,今后将加强与媒体之间的准确沟通,建立准确的、行之有效的赛事官方信息发布平台,避免引起不必要的误解和臆测。

      最后,再次感谢媒体对羽毛球项目的关注和报道,也希望今后双方之间加强沟通,保持信息渠道的通畅。

      谢谢大家。

    oh please LD trolls keep bringing H2H, this make me LOL :D :D :D

    when someone lose N-th time that doesn't mean next time he definitely can not win! Otherwise whats the point of H2H? whats the point of all the trainings & hard work? whats the point of competition?

    ex:
    Chen Long vs Tommy Sugiarto : 6-0 (before INA Open 2013)

    Tien Minh Nguyen vs Tommy Sugiarto : 6-0 (before SQ Open 2013)

    Lin Dan vs Sony Dwi Kuncoro : 9-1 (before Thai Open 2012)

    Li Xuerui vs Juliane Schenk : 5-0 (before Denmark Open 2012)

    Li Xuerui vs Ratchanok : 4-1 (before WC 2013)

    so based on your prediction...... in the next because the poor H2H Tommy, Sony, Juliane, May just need to easily gave up against the superior opponent? Because they wouldn't win afterall? Ho ho thanks GOD they are not you! :p

    They are an athlete whos training hard to take challenge and keep trying to achieve something. They have a great fighting spirit and never-say-die before 21 point, and guess what? Tommy, Sony, Juliane, and May won!!! :D :D
