Are you saying LCW needs to break his tendons? He's even can't walk. He had pushed it to finish the game, but he just couldn't push it anymore.

I knew this will happen even though deep down in my heart I hope LCW will win. China team would not put LD into final if they are not confident he can win. LD is just too good. Super Dan is still alive~

Only caught the last 5 points of this match.
Hate to see it end that way. Obviously bad for LCW --hope he recovers soon.

Lin Dan totally classy in showing his concern and trying to help.
That show of camaraderie is a good demonstration for all of us fans of true sportsmanship. :)

I admit LD is definitely awesome player. But I would say Rudi Hartono is still consider the best of all time. Back in the old days, AE was considered the WC and Rudi won it 7 times, where 6 of it he won it consecutively.

Just ignore it, it's an obnoxious post and doesn't deserve a response.

Lin Dan so eager to share his joy with the other two winners, he forgot the ceremony is not over yet.

    So, it's China 2, Indonesia 2, Thailand 1.

It's a great WC this year. Where 3 of them are new World Champion. Well, at least Natsir and Hendra are pairing up with new partners :D

i agree, some people lose focus on the important issue at hand and are blinded by things that aren't really that important.

if LCW could actually play the last point, he would. the fact that he stopped in the middle of the point shows that he can't actually MOVE. who cares about a stupid "proper victory"???

5 times WC champion Lin Dan... it is unprecedented for anyone to win 5 golds in WC

Okay, now I see that LCW has been taken to hospital...if he really is injured, I take back what I said earlier and agree that he was perfectly justified in retiring.

I just wonder if LCW would have seen the match to its natural conclusion if he had won the next few rallies and made it 20 all after that first medical time-out.

It's really high drama in the finale match of the event.

Very sad that Datuk had to retire... hope he will fine

Speak for yourself because I do. I'm doubly suspicious because this also happened at the All-England final. Maybe LCW really is injured; maybe he isn't. You or I will never know for sure so you can just get off that high horse of yours.

If a player from mainland China had done what LCW did, I doubt there'd be so many sympathetic responses from all and sundry.

Actually Lee Chong Wei hasn't got the characteristics of a champion.
He doesn't dare to play when it's needed, in the third set he was leading 10:6, that's when you need to push and play aggressively to go into the interval with a big lead, instead he plays passively waiting for Lin Dan to make errors but that's not happening.
Then he has to know that he hasn't got good line judgements and spatial awareness, he keeps on hoping the shuttle to go out. Don't go for easy points, work for them! Don't hope the shuttle to go out when it's near the lines because there is a possibility that it might not go out, instead be sure to put them on the floor on the opponents side.
Actually it's all about his personality, he tends to give up early and then when he realises that he needs to work hard to achieve something, he's already 10 points too late. So often we see him trailing behind by a large margin, that's because he doesn't realise that he's so often hoping for easy points and playing too passively.
In the end, he has worked so hard, because he was working desperately to catch up and eventually spent more energy in the rallies than he would by playing more aggresively.
I'm really disappointed that he still hasn't learned his lesson, he so often misses his chances.

Today it's tragic he couldn't finish the match due to his cramps.
Actually, psychologically it's better to face Lin Dan and lose the final than to chose the easy way, run away (giving up).
He's good but unfortunately not great.

    Best wishes and quick recovery.

Stuff of legends. If this is LD's last competitive match, it will be said that in LD's retirement match, his career-long nemesis, LCW had to be stretchered off.

I feel sorry for LCW, but injured or not, LD is better in all departments of the game, notwithstanding the numerous mistakes he made as well.
