heh, Langridge and Mills just saved 5 points in a row when 20-15 down in the deciding set, turning into a theme today for team England.
I would love to be able to watch the all Thai Ladies doubles, three singles players on court so bet it's unorthodox
Couldn't have thought this result would have happened. Is Gu Juan playing particularly better or Saina having a bad day at work? At least Saina gets a few days to recuperate before the next tournament.
Perhaps Saina has just recovered from her toe injury and not fully trained yet, so she's using this tournament as a warm-up for next week's INA Open. Anyway, I noticed Gu Juan's defensive capabilities and disguised shots caught Saina several times, esp her ability to return Saina's hard smashes with interest a number of times which made the latter somewhat tentative when executing her attacking shots. Frankly, Saina may be inconsistent for the time being, she's still a dangerous opponent for anyone. As for Gu Juan, she has to be more convincing with her breakthroughs by scoring a couple more of commendable results - a second appearance in the final of a GPG here will be a good start in that direction, winning it will be a surprise bonus and huge boost in confidence. Admittedly, expecting her to beat Intanon is a big ask, unrealistic, a slim chance but not impossible.
Ah yes, I jumped the gun, Gu Juan has first to overcome Busanan tomorrow, an opponent she bested in their last encounter at the MAS Open GPG '13.
2013 so far has not been good for Saina Nehwal and she was beaten for the first time by Gu Juan a player she easily subdued in the 1st round of the 2013 Maybank Malaysian Open. She has also been losing consistently to players ranked much lower. What has happened?
I feel sorry for saina now. I don't think she will be able to get out of that mental block unless she gives rest to her body for atleast 2 or 3 months. Its not leading her anywhere. I don't wanna take credit out of Juan Gu. I didn't get chance to watch the match but i hope juan gu would have got saina's slow movement as advantage. She should take this as her positive side and need to move ahead. Nowadays, lost interest in her play because of her early exits. But i wanna wish her all the very best for her future endeavours ...
In a way true but the worry is about her consistency or inability to retain her high ranking for perhaps a longer period, though she still has time to prove herself. In this regard, one can only admire that LCW was WR1 for such an extended period and not many were able to beat him during this time.
