Thank you, suetyan. I see she's on crutches, which means it'll be some months before she can start competing. If I'm not wrong, Sayaka Sato and Eriko Hirose (Mitani Minatsu not yet, maybe after this French Open win) are two of the JAP WS that Li Yongbo has commented on as worthy opponents of CHN WS. The others he often mentioned are Saina Nehwal, Juliane Schenk, Tine Baun, Inthanon Ratchanok, Tai Tzu Ying, Chen Shao Chieh (now retired), Sung Ji Hyun, Bae Youn Ju, Porntip Buraprasertsuk, Yip Pui Yin, and P V Sindhu (the latest addition). In the past, he mentioned Pi Hongyan once, cannot remember whether Yao Jie was ever named.
did he mention Sayaka Sato before? hmmm.. From past until now, I don't think she can threaten the Chinese ladies.
Sorry suetyan, I couldn't find the article anymore. I only remember two JAP players' names were mentioned by him some time ago, so I guess they should be Sayaka and Eriko; not sure which is which, you know how Japanese names are translated in Mandarin. The other names like Inthanon, Tai Tzu Ying, I'm very sure because their Chinese names sound right.
I want MM to not just threaten CHN WS but to beat them again, again and again. I admitted that it is a very hard job indeed, but there are still chances, aren't there?
Excellent!!! I think you are so eager.. Even i hope that. Lets leave that to her. She is a fast learner. As far as saina has told in an interview about this girl. She learns from her mistakes soon and getting back. So, lets hope your dream to get fulfilled. She has to change the tactics then and there. Mostly, everybody would have watched and learnt her techniques which gained her a title, French Open.
Haha... Yeah, i want the competition on all department, MS, MD, WS ,WD, & XD are not dominated by one player or one nation only. Badminton would be much more interesting if the competition are tight since every players are doing their very best to keep improving and playing at their very best, coaches will think and analyze every player advantages and disadvantages making sure that their shuttlers could prevail. I hope beside Saina, MM along with KOR and THAI WS could give CBA WS hard times
Wonderful.. Even i am thinking the same. Badminton would be more and more enthusiastic only if it is not one sided. Coming years, it would not be like one sided. Dont worry. Each and every player is trying hard nowadays. I hope all the nations you have mentioned will fulfill our dreams soon. Lets see how this china open would be. Because mitani minatsu is in the branch where li xuerui is there as far as draw is concerned. If she continues her fine form, then you people can see her in the finals.. Dont worry
It is not only about beating China but to create more excitement and exposure for Badminton in general. Just see what Saina's exploits did to promote Badminton in India. I predict the same will happen in Thailand also. Easier said than done but its possible.
Yes, correct. This is what me and scorpion1 wanted. Creating more excitement for badminton in general.
Japan is economically streets ahead of Thailand, yet many of their top players are not full-time pros. Now, if that could change soon enough, we might witness a real difference, especially in the women's game.
Just watched the Noz v Sun Yu World Jr semis. If you want to talk thighs and calves, little Noz has Minatsu beat hands down.
Despite having so much backing in terms of finance, infrastructure, coaching and a congenial "eco system", I have always felt that Japanese players have never played up to their true potential. Players like KT, SS in MS and EH,SS, AG in WS have squandered their chances many times. Same is the case with their doubles players as well. Now that you mention that most of them are not full time pros may that was the reason. I hope MM does not become just a flash in the pan like her seniors. I would like to see more Japanese players winning the tournaments beating the best in the game not to just reach semi finals or finals and lose.
anyway, any info on French Open SS champions trophies? why they give them instead of medals? are the trophies more expensive/worthy than silver and gold medals?
Even i was wondering. They were not given cheques officially. I think they might have given the cheques unofficially.
