History being made today... All french Open WS winners had been CHN. Wonder what made them to send their 2nd team this year...
Congratulations to Liew Daren!! He also fell to the floor in disbelief and joy, and rightly so. Dont even think that he expected to get past the QF let alone win the title. Hopefully he can maintain the new level he has reached as normally MAS players experiences a sudden downfall after doing well in a tournament. Look at CPS/GLY as an example to follow, not slacking off after winning a title. Good luck!(Reverse jinx too overpowered)
I kinda agree with you. Viktor Axelson has a long way to go. Hopefully he can raise his game to be the next Denmark No.1 men singles player. I am not sure why people tout him as a talent who can PG's successor. Have seen him played a few times before but his style of play does not impress me at all. IMO talented players, even though inexperience, often display flashes of brilliance or something special in their game but in those few matches I watched, did not see much of it. Actually I was quite excited when he first came into the senior circuit one or two years back. With all the on-going hype, thought that there maybe something special about him. After watching him for the first time, I felt kinda disappointed and recall thinking to myself "hmmm...ok.. what's the hype? maybe he is still young and may need more time to develop his play" Now I am still not impressed, thought Jan O Jorgensen, played better. At the very least he played with more spirit and heart.
Congratulations to Daren Liew! He played well today but I have to say his opponent today was not on the same level as him. Not too sure how will he fare if facing other top players.
Hi David, You may want to try Badminton Link's live stream http://www.badmintonlink.com/Watch-Badminton-Live-Stream/2012_Yonex_French_Open If you are in SG, you can't watch the live stream on BWF official youtube channel because of TV rights restriction.
Applause to Mitani. She is a defensive player. Hardly any defensive player survives at international level these days. Still serving high every time. Defense must be super solid to do that.
