Do nothing, lie low and let this matter settles and fades away. LYB will be back, business as normal, in the meanwhile, relax with winning 5 gold and 9 medals and counting those bonuses. Next OLY is light years away, by then becomes forgotten memory.

Agreed, China will enjoy what they have done for this and coming month. Once China Masters commences, it's business as usual and the Olympic pressure will start creeping into most of the Chinese players once again.

OLY is long way away...by then they may not be a player like LCW around to panic the CHN. CL is expected to beat or gave huge trouble to an 'injured' LCW but LCW easily slapped him silly. Even LD was apprehensive facing LCW who played his best game in a major event even though still lost but very close. INA, DEN, KOR nothing coming up now to match LCW calibre. If you talk about OLY pressure to the CHN players, then the pressure is among them to see who makes the team or out, especially the ladies WS side, ultra competitive.

Yes it's a diverse world. However we aren't talking about opinion. We are talking about fact. The BWF's code of conduct is clear on this matter. And even if you want to try to make so case that there is room for interpretation, these ladies were paid a visit on court by the officials who made it very clear to them that if continued with the farce that they would face disqualification. There is nothing nebulous about being shown a black card.

After that point, all your and RedShuttle's BS about them being there to win the gold medal goes out the window. They are being told then and there and in no uncertain terms that if they continue with this farce they will be giving up their pursuit of the gold medal. So it's pretty hard to see how anyone serious about winning a gold medal would behave as they did in the face of the ample warnings the got from the officials.

I am amazed that after these many days, you still have the emotion to debate on this one.

Should their actions be encouraged? No. Did they cheat? HELL NO. Where in the rule say that you can not lose a point or a match? Please put all your "spirit" "moral" crap away as well. It's easy to sit in your AC room be an internet tough guy, but these coaches and players have a job to do. If they have to step on the gray area, they will.

Overall, the system should be the 1st one to be blamed. A well setup system, should prevent such obvious chaos to begin with, especially after the coaches warned about the situation. BWF refused to put into study into it and fix it when warned, well, you know

Why are you amazed you still do??

They did cheat, they influenced by deceit.

Nowhere but that is not what is in question. Korean's won and and got a DQ for instance.

Strange personal attacks, sounds like your trying to be the tough guy.

I love this, was everyone saying "look we are gonna cheat don't use this system."? crazyness!

Please read all the posts before you make your conclusion.

    1. If that's not stated in the rule (like you said), how you accuse them cheating???

    2. Personal attack? Please read "Thunder.Tw" quote, he's the one used the terms for others first. Btw, I tried to be tough, but "Thunder.TW" obviously beat me in this dept. :-D

    3. A good system suppose to prevent all the obvious issues. Not perfectly bullet proof, but need to prevent the obvious. If not, the system management did not do his/her job.

    4. I am amazed about the emotion part from him, if you want to read his recent posts in this thread first. He's the one tell others to "shut up" and "crap" to begin with.

Emotion? Try mere logic and calling BS when I see it.

Yet, they got DQ'd for breaking the rules (ie cheating).

From the BWF's website: "The pairs were charged under BWF’s Players’ Code of Conduct – Sections 4.5 and 4.16 respectively – with “not using one’s best efforts to win a match” and “conducting oneself in a manner that is clearly abusive or detrimental to the sport”."

There is no specific law about squirting someone with battery acid however if you do so you won't be charged with "squirting someone with battery acid" you'll be charged under the assault laws.

It's not about morality, it's about the simple application of the rules.

Not that easy actually, first I'd have to buy and install an AC unit. Though why one is a key ingredient for being an 'internet tough guy' escapes me.

As I've said numerous times and you've failed to address numerous times is that these ladies received clear warnings their actions would be considered a violation of the rules and that if they continued with those actions they would face the consequences. At that point there's no gray area.

You and others keep saying they have a job to do and that job is to win gold. What you haven't explained is how getting DQ'd works towards that goal?

Yes the system should get the blame however a faulty system doesn't absolve the players of all responsibility for their actions.

No dispute with this point but could someone provide a link to any kind of public statement by a coach or player warning about this?

    A word in fairness:

    Indonesia's badminton hall of shame
    http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2...all-shame.html

Mustaqim Adamrah, The Jakarta Post, Jakarta | Headlines | Wed, August 15 2012, 9:54 AM

    Paper Edition | Page: 2

Coming to London with high hopes of retaining its gold medal tradition, Indonesia’s badminton squad was forced to swallow a bitter pill, not only because it ended up heading home empty-handed, but also due to two players being disqualified from the quadrennial event for unsportsmanlike behavior.

Greysia Polii and Meiliana Jauhari were two of eight players issued a black card by the referee during their July 31 match for “not using one’s best efforts to win a match”. The other six shuttlers were the South Korean pairs of Ha Jung-eun/Kim Min-jung and Jung Kyung-eun/Kim Ha-na as well as Chinese pair Wang Xiaoli and Yu Yang.

The Badminton World Federation (BWF) disqualified the eight players the next day, a slap in the face for badminton ever since the sport was officially included in the Olympics in 1992.

“We are trained by our seniors who have world-class experience. We are ready to lose, but not to be accused of cheating,” Meiliana said at the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) official website, pb-pbsi.org.

Greysia said she felt saddened by her disqualification. “But at least we tried and finished the game.”

Many demanded the BWF to immediately review the newly introduced round-robin system of competition in the Olympics. The BWF said it would evaluate the round-robin stage but made no promise of any changes.

For the players it's "one-year suspension from the National Team and six-month bans from any domestic or international competition."
After six months, they can play as independents before returning to the National Team?

For the coaches Sung and Kim, it's "
4-year suspension from coaching the National Team," So during these 4 years, they can coach elsewhere, overseas?

6 months, so Korean BA also decided to do like Lawn Bowling but added the 1 year suspension from National Team. Wait, in Korea, does suspension from National Team mean KBA wouldnt approve their participation in International tournaments? Since the national association need to stamp approval, whether national team or independent. Maybe event will know

So the coaches can still continue to coach the Korean pairs in 6 months when they are playing international competitions as the players will be independent of the national team.

Technically, that seems to be the case, except that who will pay for the coaches' services, the independent players themselves before their return to the National Team?

In effect the 4-year suspension for the coaches is tantamount to sacking, why would they want to wait 4 years to be re-employed by KBA? They are free to seek employment elsewhere, maybe other BAs are interested, BAM,PBSI? Appeared to me the coaches and players are punished for embarrassing Dr Kang and not delivering at the Olympics - more of a Korean domestic affair.

As pointed out here, the question was whether the coaches would have been banned from their regular jobs where Sung was coaching Daekyo and Kim was coaching the Samsung Electromechanics pro team. This decision means they'll be limited to those roles for the next 4 years at least. As for the players, they too will be with their pro teams. The worst case is still for Kim Min Jung, as her team, Jeonbuk Bank, is the only one that has never gone overseas for a tournament independently of the national team. Samsung went to the Australian Open in 2010, Daekyo went to the Canadian Open in 2005, and KGC goes abroad every year to either the Singapore Int'l Series or the Indonesia Int'l Challenge.

The BWF wants player to give their "best efforts" to win. And that's what they did.
Bottom line: you don't need to agree with us, and certainly we don't need to agree with your BS.
