You mean Saori Kimura ..... please don't change the gender of my favourite Japanese women's volleyball player ..... wakakakakaka.

It felt like a typical LD vs LCW match, this CHN vs JPN quarterfinal. Japan has not beaten China in over 11 years and have an inferior 7-38 win loss ratio (yup, even worse that LCW vs LD), but today, Kimura and Ebata saved them when their captain Eriko Araki was a bit under the weather. Very rare to see all 5 games with 2 pts difference.

I think the key is in the first game, Japan was 22-24 down but managed to steal it 28-26. After that, China had doubts. Quite a number of their players were in tears .... such was the pressure.

I'm still in shock....cant believe they won....

I actually think Chn isnt that strong when they have Lai Yawen as captain...

    Still what a seesaw battle...

I expect this battle in Brazil-Russia and Korea and Italy matches ;)

    JPN bt CHN 3-2 (28-26, 23-25, 25-23, 23-25, 18-16)

Japanese team have their better day today!

It's a very sad day for Chinese Women's Volleyball team to lose to Japan... quoted abedeng's above bookkeeping records: "Japan has not beaten China in over 11 years and have an inferior 7-38 win loss ratio" :( what a loss, what a decline... from once on the top of the world under the legendary captain Lan Ping (and 2004 Olympics Champion) to the current relegated position, exit in QF under captain Wang Yimei. <sigh>

well, as painful as it is... they must reflect and learn from their compatriot Uber Cup or Women's Table Tennis, to succumb to the humiliation then to rise even stronger! ;)

Brazil showed their Olympic pedigree just in time, with and ace serve at 19-19. But they are still playing patchy volleyball, small wonder they went down to USA last week.

But they have enough strength to subdue the more mobile Japanese, what with Sheila and the, ahem, well-endowed Thaisa Menezes in fine form to support Fabiana. Japanese will have to play smart because they can't challenge Amazonian height and power.

Haa, a fan of women with huge assets, is our PAW Olympic champion.

As much as I love Saori Kimura, I fear the Amazonian women blockers would limit her effectiveness on the wing. That big woman Thaisa is very devastating playing quick set and spike routines from the middle.

I want Korea to turn the tables on the USA, if they can ..... Based on how they disposed of stronger Italy, they could do it. USA had a very easy quarterfinal and could be lulled into complacency.

LOL...how can we not like her :p

Jpn defense is quite solid no worries but the smashes not as strong as Brazil...

Korea only rely on Kim YK, if she's off form (not that often), US with lots of smashers (Hooker, Tom, etc) can easily throw them out :(

Poland lost to Australia, how did they even manage that? Of course Brazil is my pick.
