Ding Ning advances to final after beating Feng Tianwei 4-2 (11-7, 11-4, 9-11, 12-10, 6-11, 11-6) in an intense and fascinating match!! I trust Feng will eventually reap the bronze medal for Singapore
I think a match between Ariel HSING vs Kasumi ISHIKAWA will be quite interesting to watch. Both are still young and excellent players!
I was hoping the Ding Ning - Feng TW matchup would go to 7 games. The last 4 games of the match especially was exquisite, especially one particular rally in game 5 when Ding Ning defended like mad for ages.
(2) LI Xiaoxia (CHN) bt. (JPN) Kasumi ISHIKAWA 4-1 (11-5, 11-4, 11-13, 11-6, 11-7) So we will see All-Chinese finals between Ding Ning vs Li Xiaoxia on Wed 01 Aug - 15:30 and a Bronze Medal Match between FENG Tianwei (SIN vs (JPN) Kasumi ISHIKAWA on Wed 01 Aug - 14:30
It's not as difficult to defend in such rallies even though it looks spectacular, as there is more time to react to the ball. In fact, it's actually harder to play closer to the table. There is always a tendency to move further away from the table as the player will then have more time. But staying close to the table also gives the opponent less time. I heard that beginners train with the wall behind their backs to prevent them from moving backwards.
LOL if she fails, it's a world record that a country has finished fourth for four consecutive times. 2000 2004 2008 2012. - ??
oo really?? don't follow closely the stats then Feng has extra urge to end the failures... luckily she need not to face another CHN player there. Yet she must take Ishikawa seriously, the young cutie is also fast n furious all semifinalists, in fact the top-8 players, all are quite powerful ... the gap is indeed not that wide
The Men's SEMIFINALS will play on THU 02 Aug: - ZHANG Jike (CHN) vs (GER) Dimitrij OVTCHAROV at 10:00 - WANG Hao (CHN) vs (TPE) CHUANG Chih-Yuan at 11:00 The Men's QUARTERFINALS RESULTS, Wed, 01 Aug: - ZHANG Jike (CHN) bt (HKG) JIANG Tianyi: 4-1 (11-4, 8-11, 11-4, 11-9, 11-6) - Dimitrij OVTCHAROV (GER) bt (DEN) Michael MAZE: 4-3 (11-8, 12-10, 1-11, 9-11, 9-11, 11-6, 11-9) - CHUANG Chih-Yuan (TPE) bt (ROU) Adrian CRISAN: 4-0 (11-3, 11-4, 11-4, 11-5) - WANG Hao (CHN) bt (JPN) Seiya KISHIKAWA: 4-0 (11-4, 11-5, 11-3, 11-5) *a little bit surprise to learn the easy defeat of the giant killer, the one who ousted Boll, Adrian Crisan. Ovtcharov really had a dog fight against Maze!
FENG Tianwei succeeded to win the Bronze medal for Singapore after beating Kasumi ISHIKAWA (JPN) by 4-0 (11-9, 11-6, 11-6, 11-5). At this very moment, the Gold Medal match is in progress, Li Xiaoxia is leading 3-1 against Ding Ning. The lady umpire just spoilt the match by improperly faulted Ding Ning's serve for being too low.
LI Xiaoxia grabs the Gold medal beating her compatriot Ding Ning 4-1 (11-8, 14-12, 8-11, 11-6, 11-4).
i suspect the lady umpire was wrong when she faulted Ding Ning's serve blaming her ball wasn't threw up high enough... added with the red card yielded in point penalty, completely destroying her playing rhythm!!! Poor Ding Ning... i wish her who wins the Gold medal instead of LXX
I really enjoy watching Ding Ning play. She is only 22, hope she can win it in the next Olympics. Watch one of her amazing shots http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vA4j04U4vO0
poor Wang Hao third time still unlucky. may be a gold in the team as consolation. congratulation to Zhang Jike the newly crowned OLY champion
