Found this banner just around the corner of last years venue! This was today..... one day before the start of the tournament. I've seen very little advertising on the streets. There's been some on TV. Perhaps TV is a more effective advertising medium in HK.
Here is more advertising i.e. abysmal. This picture shows a tunnel right underneath the venue and is a major walkway for pedestrian flow in rush hour. Look at all the potential wall space.
OK, so here what it looks like from the outside..yes, that funny prism structure. Underneath is a major rail terminus so the arena, hotel, shopping centre are on an elevated platform. And if you go around the perimeter, you'll see a little makeshift structure housing the Yonex gear for sale
Photos . Thanks cheung for the photos. The photos make us feel the atmosphere of this tournament from afar. .
This is what you can see inside To the left are warmup courts, to the right are the match courts The backdrop is huge....! Quite a large number in the audience, even for qualifiers Note where the stringers are hard at work
Hotel Can recognize Toby Ng and Alex Bruce of Canada Nearby, the food court where players migrate to.
. Cheung, Thanks for more photos. Tell the organisers to check their timing devices for the matches. I believe that some of the recorded times of the qualification matches were wrong (too short). http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/s...DDD331-4C98-4B84-A2ED-3F0B93881018&d=20111115 .
It's nice and dark, just like in the All England. Now the spectators can move around or take photos without worrying about distracting the players.
I heard there are complaints from players about Hung Hom Coliseum. The light and also the floor problem. They prefer tournament to be held at the old venue - Queen Elizabeth Stadium.
Then Krisna and hauge will surely argue for degrading the tournament The light is much better for photos!! It is a new venue. There are bound to be comparisons to the old. There are still people oohing and ahhing to the matches.
The entry of players New HK player - looks good - let's wait and see what happens when he actually starts training full time at badminton rather than full time at school. And Jan Frolich (Czech)
Hafiz wins and allows himself a smile. After the match, I saw the England coaches outside the arena (I was getting some lunch). They were pretty animated and were not happy...Unfortunately no photo of that. Marc Zwiebler after a marathon match Swings his racquet in delight Tony and Howard still looking good. Germans always smiling
