    I prefer 21 scoring system!

    I prefer 21 for both singles and doubles because all players on court know that a mistake made by anyone on court is a point gain for either side. Which strives every footwork, strategy, concentration, and shot quality to perfection.

    I like 15 points rule better, because 21 rally points makes me extremely nerves throughout the whole game!! In 21 rally system, if you make mistakes in a row, you and your partner can easily screw up the entire game~~I have experienced it once haha :D

    I prefer 21 cause the game is faster. It also allows slim to no time for mistakes which makes us focus more and trying harder during the match.

    Actually the 21 points NSS demands skills of the greatest type-your mind. The 15 points OSS lacks the intense concentration, nail-biting tension, and mental focus of the NSS. Displaying the best physical or technical skills alone is at its best in exhibition matches where the mind is not required to go into battle, but this is not how competitive matches are played.

    Personally I prefered the 'old' 15 point system. In my experience if a player can get to 16pts with a 3 point lead the game is over. However my main objective to the new system is that there was nothing wrong with the 15pt and I'm firmly in the 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' camp. Also though I don't win many games, when I do I like it to be because I won the points and not because my opponent screwed up alot.

    I agree. For 'fun-fun' play, especially with pretty girls, with whom you don't want to finish the game too early and would like to have a bit of fun making them run here and there, 15 points.

    As for high class players, 21 points, as you get to see them dish out their best to win a game. 15 point game for a world class tournament with players who changes serves too many times can be downright boring.

    I wonder how many BCers are still playing with the OSS ???

    .
    :D:D:D Suddenly, I find this 4-year-old thread being revived.

    I wonder how many BCers are still playing with the OSS (15 points) as at now (in 2011)?

    :confused::);):p:D

    Scoring Preference

    The old timers I have been playing with since my teenage years are still using the old scoring system. They are now in their 50s and 60s. They play doubles all the time, except maybe once in a blue moon these old timers get a challenger who thinks they are hot blooded attackers but get their butts whipped by the old timers as they prefer the 15 point system and this is where the advantage lies in the old scoring system, at least to old timers.

    Challengers who think they are hot blooded attackers

    .
    We have one of the longest threads at BadmintonCentral discussing this topic before:
    Why is it that most players think that the new scoring system is only good for the attacking players?

    The thread is located at;

    Both 21 and 15 point systems have pros and cons but on the professional level my opinion is that 21 point system while it may be more broadcast friendly, actually detracts something significant from the game - it makes majority of the matches just too short.

    How many of the more "physically demanding" sports involve 20 minute matches as relatively common occurrence (maybe table tennis...)? Can you imagine 20 minute All England Men's doubles finals? Well it could happen if not already have happened.

    It may be true that rally points do indeed increase the tension (though not necessarily excitement) during matches but that's about all it does. Now there are much less comebacks from deficits and I sometimes don't even see players breathing very hard during a match compared to old 15 point system.

    I truly believe that the most entertaining sports is basically a real live drama and 21 point system is just too short for such engagement with its audiences. Sometimes it's barely long enough to engage the participating players before the match ends let alone the audience.

    I'm in favor of the 21 pt system.
    Every error now counts so there's no room for mistake.

    Do u prefer 15 points rule or 21 points rule?

    For me I prefer 21 than 15 because you will bring your A game each set whether who will serve.

    I prefer 21 points because I have been brought up playing up to 21 points and games have to be more intense !

    I am wondering what percentage of our BCers are now totally converted to the 21-rally points scoring system.

    Perhaps, another poll (for year 2011) can be created by our admin/moderators. :):):)
