last night I watched Sudirman Cup China vs Japan (5-0) MD CaiYun/FuHaiFeng vs Sato/Kawamae (both using VT80) guess what Kason kick Yonex arse ...! the Japanese smashes are too weak and flat and their defense are too slow (or maybe the Chinese defense are too good and FHF smashes are too much to handle)
I used AT900P and VT70 (before I sold them) they are too heavy especially I play mostly MD and only sometimes XD never play single anymore for the past few years heavy rackets is such a burden especially when playing against advanced players who are reluctant to give you a lift or high clear (only if they had too) they will hit the shuttle downward almost every time they had the chance so what good a head heavy racket will do you if you don't have the chance to smash? plus have to defend to very fast smashes from opponents ...
Probably a combination of both, or more simply, the Chinese doubles pair are just much better than the Japanese doubles pair in every department. By the way, FHF's racket of choice before he switched brands was the Yonex Ti-10 (?3rd generation) - more of an all around racket, but interestingly, his defense was always dodgy, while his smashes were lightning. Wow, didn't realise the Japanese doubles players are using the VT80 too. Again, will be interesting to know if they are using the 3U or 4U.
Maybe Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen will know the answer to that. Or maybe it's simply because some people have the ability to adapt and play well with certain rackets, while others don't. Also, if you find you don't have a chance to smash, you're not creating opportunities enough. Better team work with your partner may help with that.
It probably doesn't make her a (much) better player, but yes, the fact that she has chosen to use the VT80 makes it fairly clear that the racket probably suits many styles of play and/or "body types". That, or Yonex paid her millions to use it hehe.
Or he could just use his own account . Saw a little girl playing with AT700LTD btw at the junior nationals this weekend . Barely any VT80's yet, still many ARC10's and ARC9FL for the girls ... and an assortment of many other models/brands.
3U is most suit u,ssj...i used 3U and i noticed that my smash and backhand clear was improved...slightly better than MX80.but with all the muscles like u, it just peanut to drill the hole with VT80. For record, i am 65kg and 174cm...What about u ssj? Last nite, i am using VT80 all the way upon my session and it just feel so good..my opponent is about same level with me and happy to see they can't return my smash frequently.
I've got a social session in an hours time. Among the usual 16 players, they'll be at least 8pcs of 3U VT80 in play... possibly the highest concentration of VT80s within a single BC social session to date...
Mine is strung at 32 lbs. Knock on wood, but both my VT70 and VT80 are holding up well. I have to say that the VT frames are very sturdy. During stringing, I noticed a lot less head movement compared to the other Yonex models like AT, ARC, and NS. It also endured a few racket collision and survived. What I mean in head movement is when you string the main, the sides tend to move outward. Weak racket, or poor machine support usually result in racket breaking or making the raket look more fat.
32lbs! that is a lot and way beyond the recommended tension. is your stringing instrument well calibrated? how do you feel when you play with it?
not only calibration is what matters but also pre-stretched and constant pull to avoid tension loss if you pull 32 lbs normally it will go down to 30 lbs without turning on those features ...
yeah ... and the list go on and on ... Lee Chong Wei, Peter Gade, Saina Nehwal, Sato/Kawamae, and some female European players ...
The pros, male or female, are strong and technically sound to handle any type of racket. I do notice a few pro players use head heavy rackets for doubles. Maybe they switch to VT80 from Arc 8DX and AT900p. Switched back to my BS 10 for 2 hours of doubles and everything was fine day after. No sore elbow. May just keep the VT80 for the odd game of Singles or as a practice / warm up racket. Make my BS 10 seem even faster
Question here, the specs stated that VT70 & VT80 both have med-stiff. How would these stiffness if compared to ARC-ZS shaft stiff?
