Malaysia’s men’s back-up players were all bunked out in the 2nd round. The two independent players, WCH and MHH needed three games to subdue their opponents. The defeats of the back-up players to unseeded and unknown opponents just show how mentally weak the back-up players are in the international stage. The 2nd round encounter between SN and EH should be interesting; will it be a repeat win for EH?

What I read frem newspaper today, they will send 6 MS Back up players to BAC in China (including Arif & Goh). Hope it will be a good decision.
It won't be a good decision, they should dump the other 4 and only send Arif, Goh Soon Huat and maybe 1 or 2 more youngster that is not part of the other 4!

It's a catch-22 situation. What choice does BAM have? If BAM does not send the back-up players to play in international tournaments, how would they be exposed? No doubt it costs a lot but BAM just has to find more sponsors and maybe get more funding from the National Sports Council.
I would say it is a good decision . I would say it is a good decision. Why? Because MAS back-up players will be able to show BAM their commitment/determination to try their best. Many BAM members (and BCers) just look at results. IMHO, if we were to look at just the results and following BAM's statement that back-up players who have failed to reach the Quarter-Finals will be 'punished', then MAS will have only a handful of players capable to meet BAM's requirement. We do not want to find very few MAS players in tournaments this year (2011). .

BAM made a statement regarding not exposing players who have failed by not reaching the Quarter-Finals at previous tournaments. I will need to dig in to search for that article (from the press) before we continue in this discussion. .
