 What are the odds of Kim/Kim facing Ko/Yoo three straight tournaments?!? Two of which in the first round after coming through the qualifyers ...

I don't really consider Axelsen winning as an upset, though that may be true ranking-wise.

Today's match (Round of 32): Scott Evans-vs-Muhammad Hafiz Hashim [9].

I guess that Scott is hoping that Hafiz will play his yoyo with him. ;););)

Yes, it's only based on ranking-wise.

I PAWed for Viktor Axelsen to defeat Carl Baxter; And happily, I've won 13 points. :):):)

I am wishing for Jorgensen-Park // Lee HI-Santoso semis in the MS and Inthanon-Schenk // Bae YJ-Nehwal for semis in the WS. Those could be great matches.

Prediction : Match Involving INA players

    WS
Adrianti Firdasari vs Pai Ma Hsiao
    Head to Head : 2-0
Firda still not fit enough, probably Pai Ma Hsiao will win this match.

Lindaweni Fanetri vs Cheng Shao Chieh
    Head to Head : 0-0
Linda not perfoming well in All England and still inconsistent. CSC is the upper hand.

    Aprilia Yuswandari vs Juliane Schenk[3]
    Head To Head : 0-1
Hong Kong Super Series 2010, Aprilia Yuswandari vs Juliane Schenk 21-13 14-21 19-21.
Tricky match,Juliane is on her top form while Aprilia started this year with a bad result.

    XD
    Tontowi Ahmad/Lilyana Natsir[5] vs Baptiste Careme/Laura Choinet

Fran Kurniawan/Pia Zebadiah Bernadeth[7] vs Ong Jien Guo/Chong Shook Chin

    MD
Hendra Aprida/Alvent Yulianto[7] vs Chen Hung Ling/Yu Lang Lin
    Head to Head : 1-1.
Last encounter in Korea PSS 2011 was win by Hendra/Alvent.At All England Hendra/Alvent didnt perform well and lost to Polish pair. Hence, the TPE pair is more favored.

    Bona Septano/Mohammad Ahsan[5] vs Adam CWALIN/Michal LOGOSZ

    MS
    Simon Santoso[2] vs Stefan WOJCIKIEWICZ

Indra Bagus Ade Chandra vs Dicky Paliama
    Head To Head : 1-0
Bitburger Open 2010, Indra vs Dicky :21-18 21-15
lets see how the independent player,Indra Bagus fare against Dicky this time.

    WD
Lilyana Natsir/Pia Zebadiah vs Christinna Pedersen/Kamilla Rytter Juhl[5]
Yeah New Combo..! not sure if Butet/Pia are permanent pair.. But very interesting to see the clash between this two pairs.. All four players are mixed double players also.. Christina/Kamila was playing well in AE. Hope with the sharp interception from Butet combine with power and brilliant play from Pia they can beat the Danes. :D

    Greysia Polii/Meiliana Jauhari[2] vs Ennia BIEDERMANN/Monika FISCHER
GreyMel is significantly showing dowhill progress .

I expect Simon Santoso to justify his no 2 seeding with at least a Final appearance.

The opponents he will be expected to face in the next few days, having won the first match this morning (HKG time):
    R32 vs Stefan Wojcikiewicz
R16 vs either Hafiz Shaharudin or Segey Ivlev
QF vs (possibly) Sho Sasaki [13] or Peter Mikkelsen
SF vs (possibly) Shon Wan Ho [5] or Mohd Hafiz Hashim [9] or Joachim Persson [11] or or Lee Hyun Il

I believe he can beat them all (maybe except for Lee Hyun Il perhaps?). As for his Final opponents: either Jan Jorgensen [1] or Park Sung Hwan [4].

Even though the CHN pairs are absent, the KOR, DEN, TPE and JPN pairs are all competing in this tourney. So, quite hard for INA's MD, WD, or XD pairs to win a title. It will be fantastic if any one can do that, in the presence of the All-England champion Mathias Boe/Carsten Mogensen [1] or the in-form pair of Joachim Fischer-Nielsen/Christinna Pedersen [4].

    Matches to-be played today:
    XD
Fran Kurniawan/Pia Zebadiah Bernadet [7] vs Ong Jian Guo/Chong Sook Chin - realistically, Fran/Pia are expected to reach QF, but they might lose in R16 tomorrow.

Tantowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir [5] - Towi/Butet have an easy opening match but they are expected to face Yoo/Kim tomorrow. At the moment, they are still not consistent as a pair and have the tendency to lose concentration easily. So, don't expect too much from them in this tourney.

    WD
Christinna Pedersen/Kamilla Rytter-Juhl [5] vs Pia Zebadiah Bernadet/Liliyana Natsir - more like an experinment for the upcoming Sudirman Cup to give the WD more options.

Meiliana Jauhari/Greysia Polii [2] vs Ennia Biedermann/Monika Fischer - an easy opening match but Mel/Grace's form has been very awful this year (winning 0 match) in the opening 2 SS tourneys. I don't even think they will reach SF this week.

    MD
Hendra A. Gunawan/Alvent Yulianto Chandra [7] vs Chen Hung-Ling/Lin Yu-Lang - AG/Alvent are forever inconsistent and they could exit the tourney before QF as well.

Adam Cwalina/Michal Logosz vs Bona Septano/Mohd Ahsan [5] - a tricky pair for Bona/Ahsan, but they should beat the Polish pair. I expect them to reach at least QF and a possible match against Koo/Yoo [2].

As for the WS, I don't expect ANYONE to progress.

Butet seldom performs well when facing the tall European ladies in recent years.
