I heard there's a possibility of Lin Dan coming to play..

    http://www.german-open-badminton.de/Meldungen-Setzlisten-Auslosu.406.0.html

For those who don't know German:

„Lin Dan, der Olympiasieger von 2008 und dreimalige Weltmeister im Herreneinzel, hat ein Visum beantragt. Das bedeutet, dass er beabsichtigt, in Mülheim zu spielen“,

Lin Dan, the olympic champion of 2008 and 3 timed worldchampion in Mens Singles has applied for a Visa. That means that he is expected to play in Mülheim

CHN mentioned that they will participate AE only and will skip German and Swiss Open due to China league which will start in February..even Badzine mentioned it also..very very slim chance LD will play ...may be next year due to Olympic qualification....

I am a little skeptical. Even if CHinese super league was not in the way, there makes absolutely no sense that LD would want to play in a GPG tournament unless there's a sponsor's obligation(I don't think Team Germany is sponsored by LiNing).

But, if the visa application news is true, there might be a chance that LD will come. Probably as a tourist, or a chauffeur to guide the youngsters to final. I am more inclined to believe the former being true.

But Li-Ning Europe is based in Germany and not far from the event either. Maybe some promotional activities on the side? And at the same time get used to the timezone in preparation for the second of four Super Series Premier, the AE. Number two on the way to the first badminton Grand Slam ;) (bar actual injury) ...

2011 German Open GPG: Is Lin Dan coming?

    .
It's lucky that the German Open GPG is held in the week before the All England Open PSS. Many players are thinking of using the German Open as a warm-up event.

Therefore, I am not surprised should Lin Dan decides to play in Mülheim.
    :):):)

I take it you'll be there too? I'm awfully excited already, German championships were nice but this is gonna be a whole different level of play :)

I will be there with some of my friends and club mates. I'm happy to see my favorite MD team: JJS/LYD. :) It's just a stone throw away from my home so I will be there all days.

    LCW not going to play

    .
Perhaps for BWF tournaments, LCW will only participate in SS and PSS this year (2011).

Saw his name on the M&Q list though ... Was said elsewhere he withdrew to conserve energy and solely focus on AE. I guess you would have to expect him in the Malaysia GP Gold as well but other than those ...

That would be rational - he should try to conserve some energy and not play every tournament possible like last year. Although I'm a bit disappointed not to see him live, I agree with his decision.

This is amazing. There is still no word on withdrawal.

His club team will play twice during German Open. His backup is no good at all.

    Will he or won't he?
