Hey guys, Just out of curiosity. Why doesn't India make difference like China with their huge population? Any ideas? Please educate me.
are you talking about from the point of view of badminton?? or other aspects of the country in general?
Interest in the sport is the no.1 factor. Compare the amount of NORMAL people playing badminton in China compared to India.
China has a real long history in Badminton, while the sport was least encouraged in India about 2 decades back. After Padukone won the World Title, he set up a training academy, and a few of them followed suit. It hasnt been so long since the first camps like that were set up in India. All we have to do is wait.... Wait until the juniors mature up to fight the worlds. The training isnt inferior compared with other nations either. I have seen a few top junior denmark players at India, who came for training a month or so. Then again, talent is also an integral part. There are champions who are raised, and there are champions who are natural. Spotting a good talent at a very young age, and getting consent from his/her parents to take their child into full time training is another obstacle. Every Indian wants their child to grow up to be an Engineer or Doctor or engaged in something PRESTIGIOUS. As we all know, the consent and support of parents in this field is VERY important. They should be able to support their child financially and mentally, as the process of improving is not a very fast one.
China's population for sure is much more than Indian.. btw, i'm stil waiting for your greatest md statistic..
Having seen some of the games recently, I am sure India will be a force to reckon with soon enough, 10 years or even sooner.
You're absolutely right. Besides, petty (and not so petty) politics also play a big part in who gets where. India is finally, slowly moving away from their total obsession with cricket. Hopefully that will help change attitudes and perspectives.
China has a much well developed infrastructure.india is a developing country........hey if u have time......visit on "scoreslive"
Not by much [China 1.3 billion, India 1.1 billion] ... and India's population is increasing faster... partially due to China's one child policy... India is a democracy, like Indonesia... there is a lot of petty politics going on all the time... policies can sway votes in democracies [unlike in China]... Thus, most politicians will choose populist policies [thus money allocation] to things like 'cash distribution for the poor' rather than allocating 'em to sports development...
