No need for Hawkeye, just use video replay As for alternative, here in Australia, Rugby league uses a video replay to determine a "TRY" (or touch down as in American football). Should not be too hard to install a few more cameras around the lines of the court. In fact TV can show a replay of those line calls already, so why dont BWF use it to judge a close call? The rule is, a player has 3-4 calls to make every set (similar to tennis) and then the video can be replay by a panel of judge hidden somewhere in another area and then inform the main umpire.
I agree with u. Still I believe the ideal technology should be like the one currently use in tennis (2 dimension). The image clearly shows the ball/shuttle head shape and the line. Probably in this case the feathers may create some problem. Of course on top of it like tennis, maybe some rules need to apply along with it. Cheers!
I felt that Rugby is complicated as sometimes players may physically block all the views because this sports can be touch any part of the body. What's your take on this? Cheers
Don't assume that BWF is doing nothing to address the issue. Just that the pace they are doing it may be too slow for our liking.
Thats right, in rugby is at times required a video replay because the view to the ball touching the ground is often blocked by player/s. Its also often difficult to see if at the moment of impact (between the ball and the ground) the ball is still in the player possesion, the ball often dropped before touching the ground. In this type of fast movement sports a video replay is perfect for the job, its the same case in badminton. To some extent, its often difficult for line judge a close line call (let alone to see a 300km/hr smash down the line).
But then lee chong wei saw the line judge pointed in and he pumps his hand up in the end and shouted in joy..
We can discuss this as much as we want, discuss until no more saliva also can. The most important thing is whether BWF will take the suitable action?? DO they read this thread and the forum That's the main question actually...no point we discuss here to death because it won't actually change the fact. U guys can just send or write a letter to BWF about this matter. Or do a petition about this. Just my opinion though.
I think it is a good idea - the technology is already widely available, not too expensive, not too disruptive as there is a limit to the number of times a player can challenge a line call. Above all it brings back justice and fairness to the game before it goes into further disrepute. The umpire can also save his face a little.
argentina won a world cup by maradona's hand scoring - people called it 'Hand of God' lcw finishing the the AE 100 ms game by line misjudgement - people called itu 'Line of God' in history...argentina was a world cup champ that year....lcw was a AE 100 ms champ...people can't change the history
LCW already has the cup and left England, of course nothing can and will change...BCers are discussing their views on this topic which this forum is all about...similar to people discussing LD throwing racket incident and LYB match fixing long after the incidents had happened and not letting go, when at that time, nobody said enough, no need to discuss anymore at that time.
thats why i called it - 'Line of God' ! God is helping lcw...who are we to counter back God's result ?
The fact is...just like some others said: - LCW won AE 2010. or - LCW won AE 2010, with help by one bad call in his [last] match point. I think it's okay to stay arguing, people who got bored can go for a while and comeback later. Let's pray in Swiss Open we got something hotter!
