..so, if he's not qualified because of low ranking, why is his name in the MS list of players? was that a typo mistake?

I doubt he could beat Lin Dan again, ever. Lin Dan was in very poor form that day and basically any player who played a decent him should be able to win against the fatigued Lin Dan. ;)

Oh, Choi HJ moved up 25 places since I last looked at his ranking. Yup, agree, agree & agree. He needs to play qualifying in GP 1st :p
For TC, maybe as 3rd MS like in TC qualifiers, vs Bao/Chen Long/Du penyu.

Maybe the AE organizer just want to put some respect to PBSI who keep trying to register Tommy to SS tourneys although if he were on the qualifying list, would not even able to enter main draw :D :D. They are perhaps wondering why didn't PBSI send Tommy to GP level or IC level instead.

It has nothing to do with that..

I do not know why Chris is asking this question..it is simple....
Their names will be there...just in case..any players from Main draw or Q withdraws..then they move up...
until they make the draw...then usually after the draw is made...some players may pull out last minute...then whoever next to higher ranking qualify will move up to qualifying...etc...

Choi should play more small tournaments to get more points to UP his ranking....I predict that he can play SS around September or earlier if he does well on small tournaments

The names of players under Reserved-List are still there, but they are still not in the Qualifying draw, unless some qualifiers withdraw at the last minute. No typo definitely.

Maria Kristin pulled out from AE 2010

    Here's news-article taken from theJakartaGlobe.com -- http://www.thejakartaglobe.com/badm...-badminton-star-takes-it-to-next-level/362726

Rising Indonesian Badminton Star Takes it to Next Level

Dionisius Hayom Rumbaka will open two new chapters in his career when he starts play at the All England Super Series.

Having been touted as one of Indonesia’s rising stars in men’s singles, the 22-year-old initially rejected a pair of call-ups to the national camp before finally signing on in January. Now he makes his national team debut in badminton’s most prestigious championship.

    ---------------

Maria Kristin Yulianti pulled out of women’s singles qualifying, which begins today, because of family issues. Women’s singles coach Marleve Mainaky said she pulled out to fly back home after her grandfather died on Friday.

That's what i've been looking and waiting for..

..thanks for explaining. To be honest, guys, i don't know about that ruling (or i might know it before but totally forgot abt it).

So, if a player in the Qualifying or Main Draw withdraws at last minute, say, a day before the tourney starts, then how will the Reserved-List player be called? Wouldn't it be better for the organizer to just go with which ever players are available and bump him or her up?
Do the Reserved-List players also travel to the tournament, eventhough they might not play?
Also, considering also that Choi Ho Jin is so low in the world ranking (in the bottom 200s??), aren't there more higher ranked Singles players to take up his space? How did they base his selection?..any explanation to how this all works is appreciated (and no, not just for me, but for others who may not know abt this system).

Very simple...the promotion from the reserves list to the qualifying draw is based on ranking pts  The low ranking pts for those players attributed to their names being in the Reserves-List, rather than in the Qualifying List.

Which is why it will only make sense for European players ranked very high in the Reserves-List to travel to AE just hoping that some players will withdraw so that they will be bumped up to the Qualifying Draw. If they are already so low in the Reserves List, then, they can just forget abt it.

The AE is probably the only SS with such a long reserve list in 4 out of the 5 events. Some SS cannot even find enough players to make up the main draw of WD (32), resulting in many byes

    Okay..

..thanks for the explanation. They've refreshed my memory..
But yes, it's very interesting to see so many names in the Reserved-List, for the AE, knowing well that there is very little chance for most of them to play because of withdrawals.
