Fantastic news, thanks for sharing. The mitigation procedures sound pretty intimidating..."blast-proof" windows and the such. With NUMMI closing and the city/country in the midst of a recession, I'm glad the board approved the facility! Looking at the plans, it appears to be in a 'light-industrial' complex located across from the new Marina shopping plaza. Good location positioned between both major East Bay freeways 46049-46069 Warm Springs Boulevard
Always good for us, the consumer, to have multiple facilities from which to choose! Better courts, lighting, customer service, membership rates, etc...
I think it is about 1/2 block north of where you marked it. The entrance is the driveway between Days Inn and Coconut Hill. So you can't see the facility from Warm Springs. Hope they will have a big sign out front, otherwise, it could be hard to find for newcomer. Location is great. Marina, Lion, and many other shopping and food are nearby. Great for the parents to hang out during kids' training session
Any new update? E.g. is CBA facility on schedule to open by end of April? Also, when can the coaching line-up be revealed?
Referencing this thread, CBA is looking at this summer? On a related note, another article confirming the new facility here
Elite team Is there any plan that it will offer elite team training like other clubs did? and who will be the coaches? Thanks,
Looks like they'd have a training program there, like other clubs. However, the coach list along with pricing and schedule haven't been disclosed yet. I too am anxiously waiting for this. With so many courts around, I do hope their training program would offer time slots usable by someone living farther from WarmSpring area also, considering school hours, parents work hours etc.
According to the flier that Ms. Lei gave me, there is no official date yet. But expect it to be sometime around early May. I think some of the older Smash City coaches will be coaching at CBA. That's what I have heard so far, I shall ask Ms. Lei when I get the chance.
it says 32 Ft high ceiling... i heard this gym the roof has a arc so the highest part is 32 ft... so how high is the lowest part of the gym that is above a badminton court? 26 ft?
Wow, we will have 2 new facilities in the month of May in close proximity, one in Milpitas(BBC, former SC) and one at Warm Spring(CBA) distance less than 3 miles apart, I believe. I heard former SC coach Yee will be coaching in CBA, Holvy will be at Bintang and not sure who will be coaching at BBC3? So far I have met quite a few former Smash City regulars at Bintang Sunnyvale since that's the closest facility available. Bintang is not a stranger to most of us as once upon a time it was the holy land for badminton and the only full badminton facility in town. I am please to see Master Foo still full of enthusiastic coaching those kids ... Badminton certainly has prospered in Bay Area.
Certainly true. And in 1 more month (i.e. June), we'll have a "monster size" Bintang opened in S. SF, just under 1.5 mile away from the new BBC2. Soon, we can say a tournament is "coming to a badminton gym near you". I envy those who live there esp. Bintang now has a huge promotion of just $200/year for those who signs up, and you can sign up as many years as you care to (or have money for). Unfortunately for those (myself) who don't live/work close by,however.
The next step is to open a new facility here in Sacramento or Davis. There is a huge community here that is being neglected. Okay maybe not huge, but certainly enough to make it more than profitable. If one were to open up, I'd buy 6 year memberships on the spot.
