Well Done Dicky Palyama !!! . And after 58 minutes, DP defeated PG with scores 21-16, 15-21, 21-15 :crying::crying::crying: Well Done DP !!! World #20 defeating World #04. Got to find out how DP played to cause this BIG upset. .
acording to lydia tan wee kiong had injured his ankle:crying::crying::crying: that is a bad news for this pair:crying: wish him a speedy recover
I guess his foot was just fixed when he reached for a netshot to his right and had to stretch for it. Gill Clark couldn't see anything awkward happen in the replay ... He got some treatment with cold spray and played a few more points. Then the score was 19-13 for the danes and Mak said to the umpire Tan couldn't play anymore with this ankle injury and gave up the match.
The Malaysian pair was very upset. There were 4 service fault calls for them and the Danes are winning big. So I think it's a tactic that they dropped the game by playing injured. They simply didn't want to participate in the tournament anymore. I also think that Påske had some service faults as well as other Danes in the tournament but they were never called. I am a bit disappointed at the judges in this match, especially the line judges, only old guys and old ladies from this withering small community and it takes them forever to utter an "OUT".
oh i see thanks for telling us i am surprise that i never ever remember there is such thing in denmark what a shame that is just an invitation tournament
I think the Danes are getting more desperate to promote their new players so Denmark can still claim some titles in the world badminton scene. They feel threatened by the Asian players. So I feel that the Malaysian players were not treated fairly in this tournament. Peter Gade made a strange comment on his match with Chong Wei Feng, it's in Danish but it basically means that during that match he was giving Chong Wei Feng a lesson. It was a bit harsh, though Peter's a good player. So I think Peter Gade will have to rethink his attitude today after being beaten by Dicky Palyama. Peter Gade took his opponent slightly and got beaten. There've been some disagreements between the Chinese badminton association (or whatever you call it) and Danmarks badminton forbund. In Danish Open, most Chinese players decided not to come to DK because DK prime minister met Dali Lama. And then at Copenhagen Master, no Chinese players were invited. I see it as a Danish retaliation. The Danes are quiet and polite on the surface, but they can be tricky and over-protective of themselves as well.
Yeah, what a surprise! Dicky will take on another Danish player in finale, the rising star JOJ. Meanwhile Lydia Cheah will face Tine again after group-stage match two days ago.
I watched the matches today and yesturday, and I think they try their best to be fair. I do not agree that the danes are "tricky and protective".. I am pretty sure they would like the best possible opposition in Copenhagen Masters. How do you know China did not get any invitation to send players?? Why do you think China would send LD, Cai/Fu etc to this tournament, if asked?? I Don't think LYB would prioritize this kind of tournament. I think it was a great blow for the Danes that Gade lost today against Dicky!! I think many of the established Asian players invited don't take the tournament very serious and sees it more like an exhibition tournament.. (You should have watched Taufik a few years back when he played in Masters...). The Danes however are really pumped up and want to show their best game and win at home soil.. I think Chong Wei Feng really got ran over by Gade yesturday. Gade was many levels above him yesturday. The comments I have heard from Asian players playing in masters have been all positive about the tournament and arrangement, I do think the Danes want the masters to be as high-level and sportsmanlike as possible, I am pretty sure they would like the best Chineese opponents if possible as well. /Twobeer
Yes I think so. Malaysian Open is just around the corner already so why take a risk in an invitational tournament. The above comment make it sound like they were called for 4 service faults in a row and faked injury ...
So, Nova Widianto/Liliyana Natsir lost to the Polish pair again....24-26 in the rubber-set Simon Santoso also failed to reach the Final after losing to Jan O Jorgensen. Overall, it's a "holiday tourney" for the INA players.
Now that I've seen the replay a few times he did twist his ankle a little when lunging forward. edit: Never mind ... saw it wrongly. That was more a teenie tiny slip than a twist, so whatever happened, happened in the pics above.
