We cannot claim it is a downright truth either. But the words touched all his fans heart.I read some comments, and gosh, the resignation is even more touching than the Obama's oath-taking ceremony
Yes.. ...that question wasn't for you...:crying: *Some of us know that already.. ..by WHO???...you mean, as a very young person yourself, you weren't charmed by Mr. Yes We Can's inauguration/speech??..
Off topic-^^Why..^^ ..the hyperbole??..I think it's great to hear those young people's opinion, who are not easily charmed by the "Great Communicator's" aka Mr. Yes We Can's speeches!..
Help me sum it up please, because I want to really get a good grasps of the pro's and cons of Taufik's decision to quit PBSI. What are the advantages for Taufik and disadvantages of his decision? As far as i can tell from the thread: 1. He has to be selfsupporting (pay his own training, coach, travels, insurance, equipment) so he has to find sponsors or other means of income 2. no more access to training facilities of PBSI except when playing for some events 3. Total freedom in making his own career decisions, where to play, how to train, his own marketing and PR decisions What else am i missing? Thanks, James
The pro's and con's of Taufik's decision to quit PBSI . Perhaps the best answers could be obtained from present day Professional players from other Professional Sports, like Basketball, Golf, Soccer, Tennis, etc ... .
u've literally sum it up quite well. But the pros could also be a result to the cons of being independent. Total freedom,if he didnt know how to manage the best training schedule, best place to train, or how give public a proper explanation of some loses, could be a disaster for this special player. The sponsors/financial support, believe me,he got no problem with that.
His biggest advantage.. ..by going the "independent" route is that: he will have a bit more control and be able to keep more of his prize monies or other financial sponsorship(s) than previously (not sure how much of the % of prize money he could keep if he is still playing in Pelatnas. Maybe Krisna can give us some insider info??). *koo_fan, yes, only U.S. citizens can vote. However, as long as one is a U.S. citizen, one doesn't have to be in the U.S. to vote. On the other hand, not all people in the U.S. can vote (if not citizens) and not all of the U.S. citizens actually voted. Btw, the "sky is falling!!!" thread is a good one to follow, if you haven't followed it.
I experienced it myself, when we want to change to be better (not only badminton) you will have to start over everything..... change the environment... and maybe he will make a commitment to smoke, party, drink LESS. When he moved, he will be more motivated.... of course this is personal JOURNEY.... pressure not as big as before but commitment will be asked here.
Taufik is actually a very VERY intelligent person... I can say he is the most intelligent Indonesian badminton player I know... This decision is the best for everybody! For him, for the PBSI national team, for his coach, etc...
I have the pleasure of meeting TH at WC05 and I spoke to him in my barely passable bahasa language (as if I can still remember to speak at all, wonder how I even pass my exam LOL). One thing about TH is he is very friendly and can warm the fans. He was in street clothes hanging around the lobby with his mother-in-law and Amy...I approached him for a pic and he similingly accommodate me as he did to all his fans..his mother-in-law said why don't I take a pic of you and TH instead. After that, he signed an autograph for me like he would signed patiently for all his fans, and that is TH for you, you gotta like him...Darn! I wasn't thinking at that time, I should ask for his T-shirt, heck I would even pay for it..there are only 3 signatured T-shirts I would like to collect, i.e TH, LD and LCW and being a baddy fan, I would frame them all and hang them in my basement TV room...hahaha!!!
Rod Laver was the first Tennis player to turn professional? . Let's look at our great Australian Tennis player, Rod Laver. Back in the early 1960's, Tennis was like Badminton with no professional players. I believe Rod Laver was the first Tennis player to turn professional, just like Taufik is doing now. In 1971, Rod Laver became the first professional Tennis player to pass the $1 million mark in total earnings. Australians are so proud of Rod Laver that we built a Tennis Stadium named after him. Let's wish that Taufik can do well and that Indonesians can be proud of him the same. .
finally he can enjoy doing what he loves best: playing with no pressure, but at the same time motivating himself to do well and excel... All the best to Taufik! He's a great player, nice man off court, and I would like to see him do well... now he's turned independent, hope he can still win many tournaments, and do well... All the best for AE 2009! Hope he and LCW can contest a dream final!
