watching SS 2008, and loved to hear the comment from Zhao Jian-Hua, and another coach for Chinse junior team. BUT, the main commentator (Mr Yu?) is the worst ever, who has too little badminton knowledge and used so many wrong terms so many times.

was hoping Zhao slapped him with a racket by showing his good technique. backhand smash will do as well.

    Good comments.

He gave a very good comments when Chin EH do a killer drop and the Indonesia's pair just stand still and watched the shuttle. A few seconds prior to that 'winning drop' Charmaine Reid commented that CEH has that 'skill' when she played the Malaysia's pair in group match.

John, I recommend this hat http://www.halfbakery.com/idea/Edible_20Hat, with pictures http://www.thescreamonline.com/strange/strange2-2/hatsofmeat.html

    Truth spoken here!!!

That dumb butt-head(Mr. Yu, or whatever his name is) needs to shut the hell up with his crappy commentary. In the MS final of China open 06 between Bao and Chen Hong, instead of talking about the match, he was talking about his own tournament with the other broadcasters in China for about 3 minutes non-stop while the rallies were going on... who the hell gives a crap about him at all:mad::mad::mad:

John Burgess is a terrible commentator(especially with the stupid "inside out smash" comment??? WTF???), but he is still better than this Mr.Yu retard:mad: (who can't tell between a forehand smash and an around the head smash)

He makes an exciting badminton match way LESS exciting... I just can't stand his bias view(which he shows favoritism towards certain players... espeically Malaysian players throughout the entire game), and his dumb "inside out shots"... how in the world can you hit a badminton shuttle in an "inside out" position?????????????:confused::confused::confused:

I just watched the World Super Series Masters Men's Singles Final and can't believe how biased he was.

Why in the world did he mention about Lin Dan and how he will lose to Lee Chong Wei if he was playing???? It's fine to have your favourite players but please be more objective and concentrate on commenting about the match!

i remember he said, "wow, look at his leg and big body size, should be fit to my rugby team"..:mad:
did he realize that he was doing commentary of badminton and all the badminton fans who are watching will be very irritated and annoying when heard all those crap he talks there.

If I'm not mistaken, the referenced player was Markis Kido :)

    Alright, here goes:

During the first game of the 2008 Super Series Finals MD SF between Markis Kido & Hendra Setiawan and Jung Jae-Sung & Lee Yong-Dae, 'That Guy' said it just after Kido made it 18-all with a tremendous smash from mid-court.

This is what he said: "Look at Kido. I'll have him in my rugby team anytime. He could be in the front row -- my hooker."

My favorite quote from that idiot...

The same match (Kido/Setiawan vs Lee/Jung)... after Setiawan missed an interception at the front court, "the guy" said "that's the dummy shot"... LOL:p, what a retard.:mad::mad:

the commentary for 2006 world champs was horrific
i also think Charmaine Reid is pathetic

"Lee Chong Wei, why are you so awesome?"

thanks tips for stating the obvious

The most recent posts are not about the ever competent David Mercer.
'That Guy' is something else - a prodigiously sorry specimen, if you will :(

If you don't like it turn the sound off its easy!!!!!!!!!!

Don't waste your time posting on this site and whining about it take it up with the broadcasting company. They are the ones that pay his wages!!!

If you can do better apply for his job!!!

    Great advice indeed ;)

I guess turning off the sound would make for wonderful badminton

Imagine if everyone had just switched off the radio to avoid Hitler.
Maybe we should all turn off the news whenever Mugabe comes on.

Passivity and silence have rarely led to positive change.
