According to press interview & during the Astro intv with LCW, it's established that WMC's knee injury is quite serious. She said bf her knee cartillage is damaged, if needs to really heal must take long break but she cant afford for her rankings to slip down. The mental block is 1 issue, her knee problem bothering her is another but she's still Msia no 1 WS, still playing until 2010. After that, maybe she'll retire.
2008 China Open SS: Will Day 4 be good for lower ranked players again? . Returned home to read all your posts/reports; some so funny, some so sad. :crying::crying: WMC's team doctor should be the best person to determine whether she should rest or play. It is better for her to slip down in her rankings than to slip down into permanent injury. Anyway, Day 3 has resulted with some great wins by some lower ranked players. Congratulations to them all. Let's see if tomorrow, Day 4, Quarter-Finals Day, will bring out the brilliance of these lower ranked players again. .
Hi everyone, I'm a new user to these forums, and I didn't want to start a new thread so I'll just add what I want to say here. As my username suggests, my name is Wenbo Du. I'm a cousin of Du Pengyu (his father and my father are brothers). We're about the same age; I'm just a few months older than him. I woke up this morning and was thrilled to see that he beat Taufik Hidayat today. It's definitely the highest profile player he has beaten to date. Anyways, this looks like a fun place to discuss the wonderful world of badminton, and I hope to see my little cousin get to play in more top-level tournaments!
Welcome! That was indeed a special performance by Du to eliminate an in-form Taufik. All the best to him in his badminton career. You should let him know he has left quite an impression among us in BC.
16 points v Cardiac Arrest Firstly I did not PAW the WC v JYJ match, and left 16 points on the board. Upon reflection, I'm not sure I could have lasted through the match. I'm sure I would been on the verge cardiac arrest, several times, in pursue of 16 PAW points. PAWers must have been put through the wringer as one lady then the other assumed control. And the close scoreline would have frayed the nerves even more. I'd gladly not take the 16 points and (literally) live to fight another day.
Harian Metro asked one of the ISN doctors before, he said WMC's kind of knee injury needs long term treatment. If it's really bad, they'll bench WMC, like what happened after CO 2007. WMC went thru the "slipping in rankings" time some years earlier, when she 1st got her knee injury. She had to make a comeback from WR# 100+++ after a 8 month or so break. She's been thru it before, it was really tough for her, i guess that's why she seems adamant not to go thru again the long hard climb up the rankings.
