Certain stuffs you never know until you sunk in the cash for them: The CFZ series gets a new tongue design. Before that the CFT/CFWM series used the slanted lacing from the SHB02 series, the CFZ's inner tongue side (left side for RIGHT FOOT as shown) is part of the shoe side, not a "floating" normal tongue that presses down when laced. So essentially when you lace in the CFZ/CFZWMD, the inner tongue moves towards your foot for a tight forming fit, I would assume. Lacing holes are not slanted and are the standard straight pattern holes. So all you get is one of those elastic white bands holding the tongue, instead of 2. Right side, right band. Vice versa. The more you know! Anyway, more photos in better light.
No surprise; he likes his mid cut. Jorgensen is now a mid cut SHBCFZWMD user too, the most recent Swiss open shows... Boe is on the low cut CFZ EX still.
Hi, does the stock insole of CFZ a power cushion insole? Or just a normal insole? Think to purchase a power cushion insole AC192 to replace the stock insole
How can you tell that LD is wearing mid-cut? I would have thought mid-cut would reduce ankle flexibility which is key for singles...
Just look at the ankle curvature. His is much less sloped than others. the CFZWMD helps in that the white silver part is more obvious. Clearly more of it unlike the CFZ EX, where the silver part is at the back mostly. His SC6 and the 70C disguise you need to zoom and conclude. His play style doesn't require him to move like a mad man; in fact from what you say, doubles is the one that needs more flexibility, no?
That makes sense... but does the mid-cut raise the height of the sole or just the height of the sidewall? Because if it's the former the centre of gravity would elevate making it more unstable.
It's just the side wall. It's nice if you're prone to ankle injuries, gives a bit of extra support. The mid cut version is also wider, and has more depth to the shoe. This helps a lot if you have custom insoles.
I've just ordered a set of Comfort Z Wide Mids. Will report back when I have them. After (repeatedly) spraining my ankle I always wear 4E mid cuts.
This shoe feels lighter than the one it replaces. The fit is also tighter. More after a few days on the court. The lacing pattern is also not straight. It curves to a certain degree.
Here's a small update on the shoe. The sole cushioning in SHBCFZ is harder than the cushioning in SHBSC6 and SHBCFT. In addition, the upper material on SHBCFZ has less padding compared to SHBSC6 and SHBCFT. Due to these reasons, the shoe feels lighter and more responsive. Movement on the court is faster as a result. Those used to the soft feeling in the older shoes will be disappointed. However, give it time and you might very well end up liking this new version more.
So much for full sole cushion and Power Cushion+ Why would they market it as the top cushioning model if it doesn’t even stand up to the two predecessors...
1) How's the shock absorption? 2) Did you use stock insoles? Mine should arrive soon, will also post thoughts when they show up.
Aye. Stock insoles. Shock absorption is good. But it has a harder feel to it. Not so soft like the older shoes.
Could you show us the insole? From other pictures it looks like they changed away from the SC style insole
